THIS IS SO DIFFERENT????

Here is the FULL and UNBLURRED reaction to our Patreon Exclusive Made in Abyss EPISODE 3 Season 2!!

Enjoy!!

Comments

Shiwa chan

The Made in Abyss composer (Kevin Penkin ) is going to make the soundtrack for the Spice and Wolf remake . WAKU WAKU

Irimu

Also for The Apothercary Diaries which will be released later this year.

Uzair Islam

Omg deffoooooo RE:Zero would be a great patreon-exclusive! Every episode is worth looking forward to!

Uzair Islam

Also, the confusion is understandable. S2 is quite different. For me at least, it was still super interesting, as it lent a ton to the world-building of what the abyss is like in the deeper levels. But the Season still has its peaks, if that's what you're worried about.

Connor Hennessy

You mention this being like a completely different show, but I think the tone of the show is still very much intact. Yes, they may not be running from crazy creatures in the wild right now, but the muddy morality of this community is so very interesting and on brand, I find it even more entertaining in some ways than the more basic adventures.

noah van den berg

I guess I'm an outlier with this, but I actually think season 2 is the weakest part of the story so far. I won't tell you why, because that would contain spoilers, but let's say that i agree with many of the remarks you've made about how this season is compared to the rest. Anyway, my personal ranking would be: 1-the movie, 2-season 1, 3-season 2

Rimtia Crowing

Don't worry it is still Made in Abyss and it will show faster than you want it to.

J K

I love Made in Abyss and the atmosphere of your reactions so I am very happy that you will continue to do that! I would like to see psycho-pass's anime reaction someday if you don't mind:))

noah van den berg

Parasyte the maxim/kiseijuu sei no kakuritsu would be my recommendation for the next patron exclusive. It's been one of my favorites ever since I started watching anime. The show contains some body-horror, so I don't think it would go over well with YouTube, so patreon would be the perfect place to watch it!

Animeter

Wait and be patient, this season adds alot to the world building and lore and you will also get terriffing creature action and fucked up moments. And my vote goes for mushoku tensei or re:zero

tyler Pantaleo

I see why you would think the show is different, but thats because we are in an area not at all similar to what came before. Its new to us and the characters, so we are in a introduction phase of sorts again. But, it will absolutely be made in abyss, just you wait lol.

mjaomjao2

Season 2 sure is anxiety inducing, the movie and season 1 really destroyed my trust in that some kind of plotarmor would protect them. I haven't seen castlevania but since you've been talking about it for so long I think it's only fair to watch that one next.

Daulton Young

RE:Zero is by far one of the best recommendations for a highly rated show for future reactions. Every episode drags you in more than the previous one.

Sebastian Stróż

To answer your question about this season feeling off. Not at all. It's still fucked up, and with each episode you get answer to one question but are left with 100 new ones. But it defo is a different because for the first time we have encountered anything that can be called a civilization. Also you wanted brutal and dark and got it a minute later :D

Soulseller33

For your last question, i will vote for mushoku tensei like made in abyss it has some questionable scenes. Currently you have 1 Season with 23 split into 2 Parts (11+12 Episodeds) It is considers the Father of all Isekai anime. many troupes/concepts you see in "modern" isekei are something that Mushoku Tensei introduced first. (at least as far as i know) + Its not heartbreaking as Made in Abyss :D its more on the action/cheeky/funny side.

BRUNO Marques

You will get more of what you would expect from Made in Abyss with the Ganja sequences. You start getting some answers about things this season. Prushka is very much alive btw. Remember, Bondrewd was the whistle and used a relic to spread his conscience to others. When season 3 comes out it will also be a bit different. The exploration theme starts dropping off because they have other more important issues to deal with (something is currently happening in the abyss and has been referred to) and team riku is very much as capable as any other white whistle teams.

Ale brenna

we could start mushoku tensei after this, is an anime that you should really watch, but it has a couple of scene that could be unsafe outside patreon

Sebastian Stróż

As for the next anime, Mushoku should be high on the list since its just amazing and has wonderful feeling of adventure which in nice follow up on MiA. That being said people should calm down on calling everything weird/questionable when its really not. Some topics are not black or white and sometimes you need get your hands dirty if you want to show something and mushoku does it perfectly.

Misteryk

Mushoku Tensei or Bocchi the rock

DeliveryBoy

This season is by far my favorite from the show (a big part was due to the soundtrack somehow surpassing the previous one), but I was also initially put off from it due to it being very different, so don't worry, it's normal since it is just presenting a lot of information and different stories without tying anything together

MasterMaster

I think Mushoku Tensei is a good replacement

Eggicus Roundplumpius

This season is way slower paced, and I think I'd expect most of the show going forward to be too. I think the author shifted from blasting through layers to wanting to actually put stories in these little microcosm worlds. I personally don't think it's a bad thing, although I have to say that I didn't like this season as much because, despite it's slower pace, it was a lot more confusing to wrap your head around.

Arcane Pengi

Rising of the Shield Hero would be fun, but that can be for Youtube for sure

Frentzy

yeah ig mushoku tensei isn't that bad of a replacement. He should do a poll tho?, or maybe he doesn't want to z.z. If no good replacement happens then castlevania next. But castlevania 4 seasons @_@, will taking a while to finish it.

Whata Save

Guys we should recommend emotional rollercoster animes here and not some shounnens, I need the react of Shigatsu wa kimi no uso(Your lie in april)

Sebastian Stróż

I feel like Saturday stream reacts established themselves to be an emotional train wreck at this point but im more than sure Your Lie in April will be featured on Lukes channer sooner than later regardless of a timeslot.

StefNano

First time i watched this it was just like in a dream. You don't know what's going on.

Ric

What to watch next after Made in Abyss? Tough question, there is nothing like Made in Abyss, the show that gives me the closest vibe to it is Shinsekai Yori which in my opinion is a fantastic show. Pyscho Pass is also a very good mature show if you like dystopian settings

Faith Wrynn

Let it be Re:Zero

Animeter

Yeah i think this is the more interesting stuff, than rush trought the layers and see some monsters.

Anacik Gabriel

Devilman is not long and its definetely a fit for a Patreon exclusive

Keith Merrington

Mushoku Tensei - or Vinland Saga!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keith Merrington

First watch of season 2 was quite a change form season 1. Season 1 was all about pushing further down into the abyss, but not stopping anywhere for long. Season 2 focuses on one layer and the details of a particular story within it. It can be somewhat confusing to watch at first - but persevere as it gets better. Don't try to understand everything all at once. It won't make sense until you learn more later.

Suichoku

Mushoku Tensei for sure is my vote, it is awesome anime and you have to watch it in patreon (pretty much as questionable as Made in Abyss). It is also getting season 2 in few days.

JammySplosha

it might feel weird, but you gotta think about it this way; theyre now on the second to last mapped layer of the abyss, they went through 4 of those in one season and one more in a movie, they have to make these next layers last now, but also the upper layers were easier and thus faster to get through, it kind of makes sense that the deeper you go down the harder it is to get to the next layer

Eliana

Luke already said it'll be on YouTube eventually

Daniel Griffiths

dw its still the same made in abyss. we just got a wider cast and some world building to cover first.... also for patreon i vote 'heavenly delusion' its like nothing you've ever seen before... it does not hold your hand and isnt afraid to cover sensitive subjects, such a great story

Eliana

People are missing the point of the Patreon exclusive reactions. They should be shows mostly impossible to watch on YouTube without censure. Bocchi the Rock is a great one which Luke already said is impossible for YouTube because of copyright issues, and would fit perfectly on Patreon. It's very short too, so we would have another show very soon.

Anonymous

This season is the part where the adventure of the previous seasons becomes mixed with dystopian elements! Don't worry, it's amazing.

Eliana

Addressing Mushoku Tensei, it's "questionable", but it has no explicit anything and would be safe for YouTube, unless there's copyright issues. I know the openings and endings would be muted on YT, but I don't think it's such a big issue since there's like only two longish ones, and they don't have dialog anyways

Louispul5

They have to introduce 2 sets of new characters, and a whole 1000 years of civilization. There's a lot of build up. What they mean by "Value" for instance is very complex. But it does kind of switch from Exploration with a bit of horror, to horror with a bit of exploration now. Since we're officially off the map now, and no one has seen anything they're seeing yet. I still think they should have done all of one time period, then all the other. As it stands in reality they ask a question, then immediately answer it by switching back and forth. Asking all the questions, then getting the answers in the second half would work better. And Madoka Magicka. Do all the emotional rollercoaster shows in a row, turn your heart to steel.

Erbs

It's likely the shift in pace that's throwing you off. The end of season 1 and the movie were pretty fast paced, whereas these first episodes are more like the beginning of a whole new show. Uusually a new season just hits the ground running but Made in Abyss seems to have slowed down a bit instead.

Maurice S

I hope you still stay open for MiA Yes its quite different compared to Season 1 but it still is made in abyss through and through. So I am sure you will like it For show recommendations in general I for sure vote for Re: Zero and Mushoku Tensei. Both are great isekais and both get the new season in the near future (Mushoku tensei in a few days already) I dont know how the copyright situation is with these shows these days tho. They could be safe for youtube but I am not sure

James Perrott

100% agree im not sure why people say its the best part, its still really good but not comparable to the masterpiece that is the end of season 1 and the movie

James Perrott

it is not just cause its a new area, its a literal village of seemingly non hostile people-like creatures, and theyre just having a tour lol, the usual survival aspect is very much gone right now

James Perrott

i 100% agree about the tone shift being a bit too different to the rest of the show, i felt a bit put off with the start of this arc too as its also a slow start it does get far better though for sure, its not that this is bad, but it does just feel like too big of a sudden shift i think season 2 is still amazing but dont really understand people who say its better than 1 or the movie, personally from the moment riko got poisoned till the end of the movie is the absolute peak of made in abyss, and i think it will always be the best part, hard to top. but yeah season 2 is very different but still very good Still my #3 best anime only behind Attack on Titan and Re Zero

James Perrott

i think the wierd floating coins are the only truly unnecessary and out of place thing in made in abyss, they make no sense tbh, i think they couldve just kept trading as their currency but the coins are pretty irelevant anyway tbh

James Perrott

idk what it is about the way Riko is drawn in season 2 but she got like 5x cuter lol

FaerieRose

Madoka Magica would be a good choice for the next series. You’ve been wanting to watch it, and the show will be better without the distraction of chat. I also doubt it’s going to win the Twitch poll any time soon, due to some people’s aversion to the series’ genre.

KDaBHoo

Lol, I love how he ranted about the shit we gave him last episode. Fair enough to be honest. Still it made me laugh.

Robert Richardson

Think Moushoku Tensei would make a good patreon exclusive.

KDaBHoo

Yeah, it feels pretty different, but that's what I was hoping for. If the 6th layer was just more of the same, I would've been disappointed.

Thui

naaah its not that bad

GTB

It's funny that you should mention Ghibli. Part of the Kinema Citrus staff comes from Ghibli ;). And I usually introduce Made in Abyss by saying that it's Ghibli meets Berserk. And yes, it's perfectly normal to feel different vibes from season 2. The first time, at the beginning, everyone's like "wait, what? This is different!". It brings a brand new dimension to Made in Abyss. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Surprising and disorienting is one of the strengths of Made In Abyss. And season 2 is going to surprise and disorientate the hell out of you...and let you speechless. But for now : here's the wonderful Faputa, sosu! ps : Good timing to start the great Mushoku Tensei. Season 2 is about to begin. But there're so many anime worth watching. Bocchi the Rock, 86, Monster, Heavenly Delusion, Parasyte The Maxym, Vinland Saga, Psycho-Pass, Dr Stone, Hell's Paradise, Mob Psycho 100, The Promised Neverland S1, To Your Eternity, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, etc...most of them are completely ok for youtube.

Reennji

I'm thinking of an anime that would be good for Patreon. Re:Zero could be an option since it has gore scenes that could be problematic for YouTube, similar to Goblin Slayer. Psycho-Pass could be another option. It's a great Sci-Fi anime, but it has many scenes that YouTube doesn't like. For series that "show a lot of skin," you could consider Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars) or Prison School. Personally, I would like you to watch Log Horizon (an Isekai) or Fate/Zero. Sorry for my English, I'm using Chat GPT to translate ;)

KDaBHoo

I mean, it definitely has body horror, but that's pretty standard in this show. It also has some very horrifying ideas. Sure there's no jump-scares, but I don't think that needs to be in horror.

2023-12-04 15:06:52 Just a matter of taste, I think. This season certainly pulls back from the 'adventure and explore' part of the show and focuses more on the 'lore and mechanics' of the Abyss which get... uncomfortably creepy? To put it mildly. Some people love the adventure while some people like the lore more. While I really like some of the interesting concepts presented in this season, I think it pushed the weird crap a bit too far for me giving me a preference for season 1, honestly, but I can see why people might prefer this season.

Nooo ReZero should be on Youtube ,if Rezero in twitch watchalong it will be big big dissapointment for me :( Luke have best Reaction when watch it alone not in live ,because when live Luke always distracted by that f**king twitchchat it shame with all the anime who Luke react in twitch watchalong ,Luke always miss something when that f**king twitchchat talking something not relate with the anime

Slipstream

Mushoku Tensei for the win!

Krusigx

like im all for chosing mushoku tensei, but i think that it is most likely safe for youtube and twich so it dosnt need to be on patreon but it dosent matter where it is as long as you watch it

Arctic

I'd like to see Evangelion replace MiA afterwards, but I like the idea of Mushoku Tensei also. Also Fate Zero is a good option also

Adam Miller

I personally don't like season 2 that well when compared to the rest of the show. It has its good moments, but it's just so different in tone. I feel something more grounded in the rules of the abyss would have worked better.

Adam Miller

please start watching 86

Arctic

Remember time works differently in the Abyss. So nobody knows how long before Riko's group made it there after Ganja did. Could be a few years or just a month depending. The only thing we have to go by is Ozen's lifespan but that is also a mystery because her relics gave her extra lifespan anyway. I think about 1 month passes on the surface for every day in layer 5 but that isnt confirmed

Ben Lobner

god, you have no idea whats coming. i am so hyped for the next episodes. season 2 is peak made in abyss (so far).

Alex

Castlevania is a pretty fun watch but would love for you to watch Code Geass after finishing Made in Abyss or FMAB.

Regular Grayzone

This whole place is different. Different rules of nature. Watch the ending from time to time. The LYRICS spoil nothing, but it makes more sense the more you watch S2. It will hold emotional VALUE S2 is different, but good. You'll get some adventure, but allot of something else as you've probably guessed. It will be something to behold, like it was for all of us

Edu S.

how are the things with children not questionable? (specifically the protagonist's actions)

Edu S.

yeah agree, that chat sucks, luke has no way of realizing what he just lost

Aaren YASS

Good patreon exclusive anime would be Code Geass (death note-esque 4d chess brain thats cheeky with some rare mild nudity) or Madoka Magica which is like the Made in Abyss of magical girl series. my surprise suggestion would be Avatar the Last Airbender, an honorary anime accepted by many in the community despite being a western show, which is a SUPER high honor and well earned (Nickelodeon and viacom have very crazy, picky copyright issues that could make it a good patreon fit)

FaerieRose

The father of isekai anime is Dunbine. Mushoku Tensei is the father of narou-kei.

Rohim

Luke, regarding the show 86, if it ever gets chosen for GOT reactions, it could only be Patreon-Only as the studio for that show goes hard on CR.

CurseMark4Life

I would recommend Code Geass for the patreon exclusive follow up. It is in my opinion the best starter anime (and mech anime) for any just starting off anime watcher. It also has a killer dub.

Lex

The difference might be the color, in S1 and the movie the color is dark, it's very bright in Season 2. and maybe the 3D they used, but for a creepy chapter like this I think its a decent choice.

Animeter

Because the first part of season one was not that good in the selling, because people thought it was kind of boring and the manga was about to get canceled. So the author went all out and created some really mindfucking stuff, season two get's even better in terms of mindblowing and fucked up scenes. The adventure aspect of the show was only a fasade and with episode 10 of season one i thought you already noticed, that this show went in a completely different direction. So season 2 continues with that, but in a better way, imo. I hope my english is not that bad... :b

Irimu

Prushka IS a person. Her soul is in that stone now. And I mean really there not just passively. As in you could talk to her if you could do stone telepathy. And also vaguely with Riko like you saw.

Spitfire

Jj

Zillatain

I'm still pushing for Madoka Magica after Made in Abyss. It's just 12 episodes and the 3rd movie called "Rebellion" The first two are re-cap movies, so they can be skipped.

Animeter

People have different tatstes, for me this is by far the best season. Because of the creativity the mangaka put into the world building and because of faputa. :D If i can split season one i would say: Season 1 ep10-13 is on rank 2 and the movie on rank 3. Season one part 1 is the weakest part. Season 2 is peak for me and the reason i consider this as my number 1 Anime.

Thomas M

A really good one exclusive for Patreon might be Golden Boy. Its a short comedy series that is extremely raunchy to the point that it would need censor bars to go on youtube. It's a very old show from the 90's but it is excellent. Might be a nice relief after finishing this show.

an8bitbatty

I'ma use this opportunity to recommend Hellsing: Ultimate, probably wouldn't be YouTube friendly, and it's got a good plot, not sure what else to say about it, it's got vampires, it's got zombies, what more could you want?

Sanguor

Wasn't expecting to see this recommandation but it would be a good Patreon exclusive for sure. It's short, really fun and has moments of pure brillance.

SaloKing

I get how you feel about this new season, and I also remember myself thinking "wow, this is a completely different vibe than what i got from season 1 and the movie". But you have to remember that this is what Made in Abyss is about: Exploring a world that is utterly alien in comparison to our "normal" human world. And just like our world, there is so much more to explore than just regular "adventure". While the adventure in season 1 manifested in the gruesome but absolutely unique and fascinating nature of the monsters and terrain we explored, in the movie it was the true nature of the white whistle bondrewd and how messed up research to make progress in the abyss can really be. Now, in season 2 we go a step further and explore a whole new concept within the abyss: A civilization in a deep layer of the abyss where nobody can return from. There are fundamentally different rules, living conditions and interactions in such a civilization. We also have to consider that, with the time dilation in deeper layers (which was mentioned multiple times throughout the show so far) this civilization might have had a very long time to develop into a direction that is vastly different from what we would consider "normal" in our human world. I really share your feeling of this being incredibly "weird", but when you think about it a bit more, it makes sense. This is an intelligent civilization, similar to our human civilization, yes, but they have pretty much nothing in common with us. Therefore it is only natural that they live and behave completely different from us in every way we could imagine. In my opinion, the way the author portrayed this civilization is pretty mindblowing. It is just as fleshed out as the previous monsters and the research facility with Bondrewd, but the tone has completely shifted since this is the first time our main characters get to explore something resembling a "city" within the abyss; with friendly, intelligent inhabitants. Just like when you travel to a far away country, the people, their habits and traditions are obviously different and sometimes "weird" to you (although they're human beings just like you). In this case, however, it's more like meeting living beings for the first on a new planet that isn't earth. The inhabitants aren't human beings like you, but something completely different (even if, in this case, they might have been humans a long time ago). That sounds like a pretty exciting adventure to me. But either way, there is no need to worry. Made in Abyss will always be Made in Abyss.

Silvio Guidi

what about hell's paradise after made in abyss? it has only 13 episode for now, the last one should drop in a week. very stunning animation, nice fights and amazing story

dragonguard666

Castlevania next please. The characters are soooo good. You've been mentioning it constantly since it was recommended before it lost in the poll to Hellsing Ultimate. So might as well give it a watch and get it out of way so it doesn't fall into some kind of limbo of being teased but constantly pushed aside.

dragonguard666

The seasons are short though. S1-4, S2-8, S3-10, S4-10. Totaling 32. So it's not as daunting as it seems.

Karen Porter

To be fair, Luke... I was about to remind you who Prushka was, then when you remembered I opted to not say anything as you redeemed yourself. I know you have trouble keeping track of character names, so unless you stay confused I will not say anything. Keep up the great videos. You're doing a fine job and I appreciate being able to watch this series with you.

mulraf

Personally i liked season 2 for sure. And i personally didn't feel like it was as out of place as you make it out to be. Still i did like season 1 a bit more overall. But season 2 definitely has great moments. About the next anime i do love code geass and i also really like madoka like everyone else here but i think both of them would also be fine on youtube? (not sure in terms of copyright but otherwise it should work) I think patreon exclusives can be used for a bit more explicit stuff. I have a few cool suggestions but i think "Claymore" would fit the bill here.

Hakimchi

Trust. The payoff is amazing

Muligan Shinzuo

one thing i find interesting is that nanachi seems to be very good smelling. I wonder what the smell is like to make Regs body react like it does.

2023-07-02 06:25:53 I always wish for Madoka to be next Patreon exclusive: watching it on stream will be suboptimal and it will not win YT poll anytime soon. My personal list for next watch is: 1. Madoka (no one can guess it, but it's my favorite show) 2. Bocchi the Rock! (easily best anime last year) 3. Mushoku Tensei (grandfather Isekai) 4. Anythin from friday slot poll (but Luke please, don't add anything to this poll until we watch everything from this list) 5. Other anime (I'll enjoy probably anything just because Luke's charisma <3)

Considering episode: What happend to pink Hollow is terrible. I saw reactions that was "Ha, f**k you, do not hurt Meinya", but in my opinion she never intended to hurt this pet. During balancing part we seen that her most precoius thing was this stuffed toys. I think she just not thought, that that could hurt living thing

Polak Zakolak

Majikaja said that villagers got bodies that they desired. During their live Nanachi always heard that they smells bad, and now they are good smelling fluffy one

kazadori164 .

serial experiments lain for the next patron reaction.

Andrew Lindsey

Elven lied is definitely not for YouTube. Decent plot. Decent characters Or watch the golden age arc movie trilogy of berserk.

Some0neElse

Well MiA season 2 is better but at the same time i feel like its got away from the whole exploring the Abyss and the whole season felt like a side story to me. As for good Patreon exclusive... I could say Madoka Magica as it wouldnt get the votes for YT reaction and isnt good stream pick Other than that maybe Deadman Wonderland

Gavin Wong

hahaha because we comment as we watch

Gavin Wong

watching along with you for the first time, this anime has turned differently compared to season 1

Aycee

This season is a bit odd, but it definitely is worth the setup. It may seem a different tone at first, but I think it remains true to Made in Abyss as a whole.

Breanne

I guess it does seem like a 'different anime' but also, we haven't seen them encounter an actual city in the abyss besides at the very start of the show. The other stops have just been more like homes

Prohibidibabido

The Korean show you were thinking of is called Hellbound. God, that show was brutal.

Metal

Maaaa intensifies! It felt really weird too when I've watched S2 for the first time.

Orion

I have got GREAT news for you 😂 He already reacted to Hellsing: Ultimate as a Patreon exclusive (if I remember correctly it was the one he watched before this one) so you can find them all if you put in the title in the search bar!

Harley Burnie

8:20 Wow. It truly does feel like a Ghibli thing at this point. I did not think of that before, but the is spot on for me now.

Paul Shelkov

At 8:34, and I'm pleasantly surprised by this whole area. I like the whimsical nature and was hoping they'd find something other than misery down there. Remember, the show started with a lot of wonder and optimism. Both sides are important. Curses and Blessings. Don't worry, I'm sure there will be a disgusting and tragic twist any minute now and it'll feel like Made in Abyss Again.
