I think they can't tell that their mother was ai cause it would destroy hers image as an idol.

Jahck

you should check the full version of the opening with lyrics, its worth after you have seen the first episode

Some0neElse

:O thats a surprise

itaral

btw ai means love in japanese and is used as both ai's name and love in opening which you reacted too.

itaral

When i think of adaptations that cut a lot of contet i mostly think of light novels not mangas but deadman wonderland had one of it's main characters cut from the first season (that character wasn't too important in the first season anyways) because of which making 2nd season was impossible.

KyTy

An example of a better manga than the anime is 100% Tokyo Ghoul. The first season is great but root A which starts in the second one is not canon. The adaptation also skips tons of finer details, back story, character development, some of which are relevant to the story. The manga is great though

Shkiperrr

it is pretty much realistic. In the manga there even eas an arc that was based on a real event that happened in japan. Of course there is added things to make story interesting and entertaining but apart from that it shows you how the industry works behind the curtains.

Sharif Alvi

Anime where they crammed way too many chapters into one season that most regular watchers know about is Tokyo Ghoul. The manga is just so much better than the anime. Also the promised neverland season 2 basically just cut off parts of the manga and went to a rushed ending that's awful as well.

Reanisu

The God of High school tried to adapt 112 chapters in just 1 season of 13 episode and the story didn't make sense at all...

ShadowNeo

Didn't watch yet. Wow, this was fast! I didn't expect you'll react so soon.

Dinh Duy Nguyen

promised neverland first season was a hit, second a flop, they trow away 80% of the story, it was by no mean watchable or coherent, sometimes i can’t understand the anime industry, if a show is as successful as promised neverland, why don’t they try to do more season, instead of forcing it all in the second season.

Gavin Wong

quite realistic because Director spoke to real singers and celebrities to gather infromation about it

Williams

a great example where the manga is so much better than the anime because they skipped a lot of content in the later is The promise neverland

Shkiperrr

47:15 Any Netflix live-action anime is terrible garbage. In the case of anime adaptations, probably The Promised Neverland 2nd season was the most disappointing for me. There is another for example the second season of Tokyo Ghoul. This list is pretty big. Edit: lol, i just read the comments and everyone is saying the same thing :P

Gavin Wong

Promised neverlands the perfect example where its so good season1 then season 2 they skipped 15 years with no bland or vague story into it due to covid

Skeletan

You're very immature, but hopefully by continuing to watch stories with a critical eye you'll learn a lot more about yourself and others.

Cleocyde

you took physical damage from that Ai flashback at 22:45 lmao

Avis Pakaya

47:30 Tokyo Ghoul re and the Promised Neverland season 2 are the anime that I have in mind, there are quite more but I can't remember

Daniel Griffiths

my advice... keep the Thursday slot for seasonal anime... I don't know what comes out next season, but it will help your channel massively, if you can jump straight onto a new hype anime with us all... your reactions will be forced into the youtube algorithm for new viewers and you wont see any of us complaining lol

KannagiBoiya

I guess for me the good example is the netflix adaptation of Death note and the live action of AOT. the most infamous one was the Dragon ball live action xD That one was a whole new level of bad live action anime adaptation.

Robert Richardson

In terms of Aqua throwing away his life and not following what he wants to do, in the first episode after Ai died he stated there was nothing left for him, and that he just wants to die it seems like aqua literally wants to finish this last mission then move on. hoping maybe he finds out Ruby is sarina and that changes his perspective.

Luke RTX on

Obscuremango

I would have said kana was more jealous of aqua more than hated him when she was a child but that's my take on it and I could be wrong

Amberyootoob

first seasonal anime hype experience

rostikowb

Luke, you're putting us, the viewers, too high, we asked for the show because it intrigued us and it's on a hype right now. I doubt it fits your criteria of "Epic, violent, bloody anime" 😂 But if you think about it, such anime is cross-genre and interesting for everyone, so it's not a big deal, I'm glad you liked it

rostikowb

That's right, it would be better to keep a separate slot for the best anime of the season, it would be useful for the channel. Moreover, you never know when a new anime classic may be born, and when it comes to recognition, you will have reactions ready on the channel.

TheReveredNinja

Thank you for the reactions, Luke. You are definitely one of my favorite reactors!

FaerieRose

A real life example is the live action Kaguya-sama movie, which is likely the inspiration for this scene.

Ty

Never believe the tsun part of tsundere. Arima is just showcasing here dere now. Also, as an additional example of a tv drama butchering source material, there’s the live action kaguya-Sama love is war. This arc is probably based entirely in the authors own personal experience, so it’s probably quite accurate.

LordDanzo

I'm also wary of Kana because her grudge with Aqua was never resolved. I don't think she's planning anything evil, but I still don't trust her fully.

Ash

Sadly one of my favorite series had a bad anime adaption, season 1 was mostly ok, season 2 diverged like crazy, there was a film instead of the third season which was 50% flashbacks to the first 2 seasons from the perspective of a background character, then they skipped maybe 60% of the manga with a final film which covered a few unrelated comedic moments as flashbacks and the first half of the final chapter with no context. There wasn't an actual ending. Makes me really sad because the pacing and progression of the manga was amazing, and all of the good arcs in the final 2/3rds were cut. If you watched it as an anime-only, NONE of the plot threads were resolved.

This Guy

I think the full ending should couple on with it if he's deciding to react to the full opening!

Eliana

I feel it's basically a move to make people buy the original manga

Eliana

Kana isn't even a tsundere tho. She's straight up a deredere

Eliana

It seems like people misunderstand Kana. She never hated Aqua. At first she dismissed him as an inferior actor, but after seeing how good was his acting on that movie, she put him in a pedestal and took this perfect version of him as a rival or goal to beat to become an even better actor.

Xaniss

that random lighting change caught me off guard... but it's BETTER lol

Sei

They can't tell their secret because it's their mom's secret and they don't want to destroy the effort Ai made and Ai's image will get damage if the world knows and people will talk bad things about her. They don't want that.

Lyrainworld

I'm so happy to see you react to this full series! I love Oshi no Ko, I've been following the manga for more than a year now and the anime news was ground breaking back when it got just announced. Now I'm really glad to see this anime together, we're in for a huge ride! ^^

Some0neElse

Best part of the song (atleast for me) is how the last thing said in the song is the last thing Ai say before she dies Also Kana (the red haired girl) never hated Aqua. She hated the fact that someone acted better than her and wanted to prove she is better at acting

Yami Youssouf

for an example of an anime where they tried to cram god of highschool is one they tried to put 90 chapters in 12 episodes yh...

Valrenas

A lot of light novel adaptations have rough quality and cut a ton of content.... My favorite light novel of all time, Ascendance of a Bookworm, has 3 seasons and the quality just drops each time, but at least the anime is still watchable. Unfortunately they cut a lot of important stuff and spoil other things earlier than in the books. There's one part, to avoid spoilers I'll call it something like a walk down memory lane, that was pretty extensive in the book. It covered multiple locations with full descriptions, went over the purpose of every item on a shelf that showed where and why she learned the things she's used to survive so far, and even went with a full emotional gut punch in the end. In the anime it was cut to three locations... a library, a craft store and her dining table.

nicolassngf

for an example is yakusoku no neverland (promised neverland) and tokyo ghoul but this wasn't as bad as the other

HappyDoodads

I'm guessing Sora no Otoshimono, or Heaven's Lost Property. What a disaster of an adaptation that was.

Zanath Kariashi

So much so, Piccolo's actor (who was one of the few Big-ish names they had attached to the project) basically threatened to quit if they didn't make some concessions to make it at least a little bit more like the actual series. It would've been MUCH worse without that, which is a frightening eldritch abomination to try envisioning as the final product was already unwatchable. (Even with the TFS riff-track tearing it to shreds, I can't make it through the whole movie in one sitting, because how cringe it is every chance it gets). Even a lot of the chinese boot-leg Dragon Ball live-action knock-offs do a better job of doing the series justice.

Tom Boggess

i don't know i feel like a quiche can be pretty good. I made a crab meat quiche with a homemade pecan flour crust for my gluten intolerant friend. top three meals i've ever made.

Tom Boggess

I love how the starburst in aqua's eye changes from white to black based on the mood of the scene.

Tom Boggess

unfortunately...tower of god. 90+ chapters packed into 12 episodes was kinda...quick. Don't get me wrong tower of god isn't a bad show, but a lot of interesting details were lost with the transition from webcomic to anime.

In terms of cramming too much manga into one season my mind immediately goes to "Arifureta; from commonplace to world's strongest".That show legit feels like you accidentally started with season 2. There is so much backstory and buildup just missing. There are times where the audience is just somehow expected to know the attitudes and dynamics of the whole cast despite some of those characters literally never having talked to each other in the series up to that point. The bits that set up those relationships were all cut for time. This even extends as far as one of the early and recurring antagonists. He is supposed to have a long running rivalry/hatred for the MC, but we have literally never seen them interact before he starts doing antagonist things. It's a real shame too because I like that show even with the gaping holes. The potential was seriously great before they ruined it.

Szadek96

The deal between Kana and Aqua goes deeper than just being someone from her past. He is her white whale. She was at the height of her child career, literally being touted as a genius, when he shows up, never acted before, and in a single scene so thoroughly eclipses her acting ability that she turns around and starts begging the director to reshoot the scene so that she can try to do better to match him. He beat her. She now considers him better than herself in her own profession. He then proceeds to disappear from the industry for over a decade. She never got a chance for a rematch. He is now an ephemeral perfection that she can never attain. When he shows back up it is not just somebody she once knew, it is the unreachable bar she has set for herself and been chasing for over a decade becoming real once more.

There is a really interesting theory from the manga side about the whole reason for the reincarnation angle, and based on things happening now in the manga, it seems like that theory may actually be true. In that event, the actual premise of the show is why the reincarnation angle is needed. (knowing the theory, there have been hints to it even in that first long episode)
