The reason that girl had to have died is Light told her he was Kira then she went blank and walked off to kill herself because of the death notes power. Had she faked him with another alias then she would have attacked him. She would not have known how the death note worked so she could not have faked walking to her death.

I think now is a good time to say some thoughts I've had about the whole Light versus L cat and mouse game. Light may have won against L, but L is ultimately smarter. The reason being, many of Light's successes were down to pure luck, not his own intelligence. Like how in the beginning, his father happened to be the head of police in charge of the Kira investigation, or how Ryuk despite being a "neutral" party, informed him of Rei Penber following him, how Light happened to bump into his fiancée before she could get to L by pure coincidence, or Misa and Rem falling into his lap just as he was being backed into a corner. Or how he conveniently had the chance to write Higuchi's name without L noticing before the notebook could be taken away and he'd lose his memories, or they could get information out of Higuchi. Lots of lucky coincidences. And if not for Rem, L would have won by testing that 13 days rule.

no theres is no one whos watched this is rooting for Light... hes clearly a villain... no one with any degree of sense would be rooting for Light... now Eren you ca say is objective... but Light is 100% unquestionably a villain.. not a single person watching this would be on his side

they even explained in the show that crimes rates got lower like crazy since the apperence of kira. You can belive whatever you want, but the facts are, light is creating a better world. I rooted for light the first time I watched death note and every time after that, and as I age I root for him more. Homie is literlaly out there making the world a better safer place, kill away homie

Most root against Light, but then seemingly root for him for a time. It’s not so much “being on his side” as it is seeing if he can continue to evade L. You want to see the story continue, you want to see the back and forth, you want to see the grand chess game play out and not finish too early.

Agreed. People tend to focus on the smaller issues that Light causes but always ignore the greater good. For every person he is forced into killing he saves I'd wager 5x. Then on top of that every criminal he kills save 2x. The real criminals against humanity are those trying to stop Light.

Even if your reasons for doing so is 100% justified killing bad people still makes you a murderer. So unless the law changes, you're no better than the ppl you killed and even if ppl COULD condone your actions, you definitely became a villain the second you started killing cops or anyone who deemed to be in your way or a loose end

It's easy to forget that Luke is watching this at a slower pace than a lot of us did, as well as watching a lot of other anime at the same time. It's not easy to remember every detail after a month or two of watching the show. I made a rather long winded post a few episodes back detailing all the evidence that L gathered against Kira to help clear things up, but I legit forgot this episode existed lol. Wouldn't have bothered if I did remember

That thing is called d dead man's switch. It's set up to release some sort of information if the person in question doesn't restart a timer. People like journalist set it up and have it release information that the perpetrator doesn't want released. More commonly used to ensure that you aren't killed but it can also be a simple goodbye message a warning etc...

I dont think anyone said he wasn't a villain, thi thats a qhole tipic of points of view. Point is, light is creating a better world, there's no doubt there, if you commit crimes he is 100% your worst villain, but you are just a normal guy going down the street, kira just created a world so much safer, he could (and is) consider a saviour

You know, back when I first watched this series twelve years or so ago I was quite a different person than I am now. I rooted for Light hard, maybe just because he was the protagonist of the series. Well, through different series I learned later on: The MC doesn‘t have to be the good person at all. I get rooting for Light, because he also gets rooted for for meme reasons, but if you genuinely believe Light is in the right and that the „greater good“ justifies all the things he‘s been doing, I‘m sorry to tell you that you need to seek professional help.

Because it's a TV show with twists?? Bro... I understand what you are saying, but this doesn't really apply when the show has so blatantly told you what happened with Naomi, and the general rules behind the death note were well understood at that point. It would make no sense whatsoever for her to come back and be alive later. That would just be bad writing. Also if that wasn't actually L but a double then I don't think Rem would have turned to dust, but I could be wrong.

I'm not gonna name names but it's been shown that there exists people on this planet that are stupid enough to support a certain person whom shall not be named. So there's not a doubt in my mind that there would also be people stupid enough to support Light IRL. But those people would be in the minority
