No, the movie is really canon and direct continuation of the season two. The first two season cover light novel tome one to four and the movie cover the whole fifth tome.

Right, the "canon" that makes continuation of the story acording to LN extremely difficult just for an additional arguably funny joke, suddenly gives some characters an absolulely silly and never before mentioned motive that breaks their character just to make an action scene longer and probably sell some figurines of their "final form", and of course cuts out every detail that adds depth to the world and the characters. Yup. Sounds about as canon as it gets to me.

Well, I've read those and I can say that the inconsistencies are quite bad despite the general direction being accurate. I don't want to spoil, so I'll use a close analogy. It's as if you watched Fellowship of the Ring, and suddenly Balrog confessed to Gandalf during their fight that he had always wanted to play a violin. And then he puts on a tuxedo. With no premise. Just because. Oh, and then in a humorous scene Frodo sells his ring to some peddler. But other than that it's completely canon.

I think after the whole fiance thing, Darkness basically sees Kazuma as a possible love interest, so I think what few inhibitions she still had have been thrown away at this point... reminds me of a certain Dragon in Arifureta lol
