It was only the 2nd time i've watched Your Name, yesterday on stream, definitely hit me much harder than first time, also picked up on a bunch of stuff i missed the first time around, so i understood it quite a bit better, one of the best Anime movies i've seen so far, will probably rewatch it a bunch of more times in the future. Spoilers ahead: It's great movie overall, definitely recommend to watch it. I only have one problem, in the later part of the movie when both mc's meet at the crater and the male only writes "I love you" on her hand instead of his name feels really really cheap and like a plothole. I understand they did it because they wanted tension for the end but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I just needed to rant about that a little bit. Still one of the best standalone anime movies I've ever watched

I'd recomend some Studio Ghibli movies if you havent seen them yet. Princess Mononoke, Nasuka and the vally of the wind, Spirited Away, and Howell's Moving Castle are all really good ones and can give you a break from all the tear jerker Shinkai type films.

If you're looking for more anime movies, Summer Wars and The Girl Who Lept Through Time are some solid picks. Not as amazing as Your Name, but still some good watches.

Oh god, I just saw someone recommend Maquia. If you end up watching that movie, you're gonna need a follow-up happy movie/anime to watch afterwards, because it will DESTROY you. Personally would prefer "I Want to Eat your Pancreas", since it's much more straightforward story. Just... don't take the title at face value lol

I would recommend "Your Lie in April" and "I want to eat your pancreas" after this since you've already reacted to "A silent voice". A heartwarming and visually stunning anime you could start watching is "Violet Evergarden" - easily one of my top5 anime to watch.

I'd recommend watching Spirited Away next! It's a Studio Ghibli classic and I think it'd be your best entrance for other Ghibli movies, if you enjoy it! Other than that, we have "A Silent Voice" too, another banger that you might never forget lol

I'm so happy to watch you watching this anime movie, it's one of my favorite. But please next time make sure the subtitles are good and visible, it's not that hard to find good subtitles to any anime. That's my only objection, but other than that it was great.

Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howls Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky, and even My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Kikis Delivery Service all are absolute MASTERPIECES from studio ghibli. Eventually we are going to have to make him either binge watch all of them or start some extra series where it's just movies until he sees all the incredible movies from studio ghibli. They just on another level when it comes to animated movies in general, at least for me. Nothing compares.

I think the next movie has to be "Weathering With You" after Konosuba ends, the thing is that Weathering With You is technically a sequel to Your Name, and as much as I love Your Name, I place it below Weathering With You and A Silent Voice. All 3 are amazing, but I put ASV at the top, WWY 2nd and YN last.

I think towards the end of the year when we run out of happy movies, we make him watch 5cm per second. I last saw that while in a long-distance relationship at 16, and a couple of scenes made me punch my alley's brick wall that was next to my house. Busted 1 of my knuckles up real bad. It's 1 movie I pretty much refuse to rewatch cause it takes me to such a terrible place mentally, but I feel like if I watch it like with Luke and the community I might get through it lol
