I consider OP and ED as fully part of the show. It's makes you on the mood. This is a reason why i dislike Netflix which is always skipping. I enjoyed the ED a lot it's really good, the OP os cool as well.

I watched all 10 subbed episodes in a row, I enjoyed it. I'll try a second run with English or French despite I don't enjoyed my first ep 1 run with French dubs

Second that, one of my favorite anime of all time. No bs, just good characters and development. And is savage :). Tanya the Evil+OVA+Movie (because all those are canon and follow the story) is one of my other favorites, despite it being different than the Light Novels and she gets portrayed in another light in the Anime. But if he likes War Anime, this one is awesome. Great dog fighting battle scenes, strategy talk, planning and no fan service despite it being an Isekai. It is just wicked good :).

Another anime that’s similar to this one is called Black Lagoon. It doesn’t really have nudity but it is definitely not YouTube friendly

I really think the fizzy drinks thing is straight up just "I don't like fizzy drinks".

weirdly in japan fizzy drinks, or more commonly sour drinks, are considered something kids don't like. (similarly to vegetables in the west) basically its just some literary symbolism that he's still just a kid

David just doesn't like carbonated drinks. At the end of the series, I'll tell you an Easter egg with the fizzy drink.
