Comments

Metal

I preferred sub for Naruto and Shippuden. I'm not a fan of the French dub I don't really tried English dub.

vRED13v

this are just opening songs, why the fuck am i crying? (all the emotions i had when i originally watched the show are coming back, and just remembering some of the characters that died [no names, to avoid spoilers]) also, for most animes, they go by story arcs rather than seasons, for Naruto(Shippuden included) my favorite arcs would be the original Chunin Exam, Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant, and Pain's Assault

Thine Tiny Equine

"was that good Naruto and bad Naruto?" My brother in anime, you can just tell us you pre-watch

Thine Tiny Equine

But yes, please watch Naruto. Skip filler. Literally a good 1/3 of the original series is filler.

Julien Fabrice

I just watched some eng dub scenes of naruto and i think the jap dub has better voices and voice actors(more feelings). But who am I kidding no one is better in that than jap voice actors

Giorno Giovanna

You should react to the openings and endings for Naruto and then the endings for shippuden and also the openings and endings for boruto they're all insane

Giorno Giovanna

Also the endings for bleach are cool to

Bonezza

You should was some best rated fights from Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden anime, if you feel this is fine, then you should try anime. Don't forget also about Bleach anime.

Majoz

dude, i got all of narutos entrences spoiled bc i watched a vid like that, so he probably shouldnt

Majoz

dude narutos *real* self had red eyes, ofc it looks like evil naruto, youre so weird

Bonezza

He probably won't watch Naruto as a whole so fights wouldn't be that bad idea.

Barack O. Llama

yeah he's never watching it unfortunately. one piece is after hxh so we'd be waiting 4-5 years and he would've moved on from reactions or toned it down a bit so i guess we'll never see his reaction to the greatest anime of all time

Nate luiz

Yesssss! Thank you for this.

Antoine Jones

both fullmetal alchemist animes english dubs are superior to subs Attack on Titan dub is good (dont listen to what anyone says) its not superior to subs but its dub is definitely watachble Death Note's dub is arguably better, that one could go both ways Cowboy Bebop dub is superior to sub So if you watch either FMA series or Cowboy Bebop definitely watch dubbed, Attack on Titan or Death Note can be a might/maybe Everything else, stick to subs

Some0neElse

Naruto is the original series and the events there are within like a year. Shippuden is the sequel which takes place rougly 2 years after the original anime.... and then theres Boruto... but thats another story. The tone in shippuden gets progressively darker but the original isnt too shy to show some really twisted stuff. As for dubs or subs - whatever you feel like. Generally subs will give you better voice acting but there are few cases where dub is equally good such as Konosuba and So im a spider so what

Zenpaku

Depending on the opening its a metaphor or actual scenes. I would describe it more like a summary of what this season is about.

Krowft

Animes where I would argue that the dubs are on par with the subs (some even say they prefer it): Code Geass, Death Note

Lukash

If you will decide to give Naruto a chance, please do a reaction videos on it. Naruto is my favorite anime (Attack on Titan is second) . However, it is a slower, at least first few episodes, and there are a lot of episodes that needs to be skipped (fillers) but there are great guide-lists online for that. Also we would help you to get best experience possible, like which episodes to skip, which to watch together etc. Also, something to keep in mind, it is a one of the longer anime so it would be a pretty big time investment, but it is definitely worth it.

Adam Krasnodębski

About the opening 10th opening the one which confused you where everyone is dancing. It was meant to be silly to cheer up Japanese citizens after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

France Gamble

I love watching you react to these anime that I had watched from the beginning when I lived in Japan and then again in the USA. I am usually partial to subs (or just in Japanese since I speak the language). But! I liked the French dub of the Slayers series over the English and Japanese (French is my first language.) I also like the English dub of Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Gundam Wing (series and movie). I don't mind these in Japanese, but the dubs are good. I also have seen InuYasha in English, and don't mind it, but prefer it in Japanese. My first time seeing Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT was in Spanish, though. About your reaction to the openings: -The two you didn't like were done after the Tsunami, I think I read/remember. They were trying to lighten the openings up for the population. -If you react to Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto, I would watch those videos with you. -Your reaction here for these openings makes me want to watch the series and movies again. They are on my shelf. 🤣 I still have my Japanese DVD player, too. -My favorite seasons for Shippuden are the last two, I think. (Had to delete the other part. Some people on here were thinking I was giving spoilers when I wasn't.) -Yes. Blond hair kid is Naruto. "Ice man" or "Electric guy" is called Sasuke (Sas-kay). They are friend-enemies.

Antoine Jones

"did he just fist bump a giant fox or wolf or something" Well, now you know why he has whiskers :p. Also "mad scientist man and gloop lady" are two different people, so yes that was a man AND a woman

Lukash

I dont think you should make that comment about the fox, its a big deal in show when it happens :D in case he watches it

France Gamble

I tried to keep it vague. I agree. Just my favorite episodes were those ones.

Zac Fairweather

Could you please remove the part about the fox in your comment, it’s a big deal in the show so he shouldn’t know about it if he’s going to watch it.

France Gamble

Fine. Did it. Still don't see what the deal is. It is a huge anime with a long time to watch. It isn't like he didn't see that one part in the opening already.

NS

By the way, if you have any interest at all in watching Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, you could get through it relatively quickly. Each series had hundreds of episodes but they were also notorious for having had long filler arcs that have nothing to do with the original story. If you comb through and skip the fillers and watch only the canon material, it's not nearly as daunting. Some fillers were fun short episodic ones and you'd enjoy them. Others were entire arcs spanning a whole season. Was ridiculous You can find actual listings of which episodes to skip, but its something like: Naruto - You'd be skipping something like 100 episodes off the back end of the show Shippuden - Almost half of the episodes near the second half of the series are fillers. That's almost 200 episodes of fillers in Shippuden alone

Lady Lati

i dont know if they are arch enemies, brothers or lovers me: Yes.

Lempika

Naruto started airing on Oct 3 2002 and finished airing on Feb 8 2007 for a total of 220 episodes, these episodes aired continuously once a week for 5 years, with 2-3 weeks hiatus every once in a while. Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation to Naruto and it takes place 2 years after the events in Naruto end, it started airing on Feb 15 2007 and ended on Mar 23 2017 and had 500 episodes (a lot of which were filler episodes to my personal displeasure), same as with Naruto it aired continuously every week for 10 years, with short breaks. Also the rating for both is PG 13. Also One Piece is the same, it's been airing since 1999 continuously for over 1000 episodes, since october 20th it has been airing for 23 years now, and if you think that's insane, there's at least 10 other anime series that have way more episodes than that, The longest running anime series is Sazae-san with 7,701 episodes (October 5, 1969 – February 21, 1974), it's a children's anime and the episodes are 7 minutes long; insane how you look at One Piece and think "man, that's crazy how many episodes it has" and then "Sazae-san" is like "Hold my beer!"

ThePaleBlood

arch enemies or brothers or lovers? hmmm yes to all actually

krai

Naruto's mark on his cheeks aren't whiskers, I think it's an indicator that he has a 9 tailed fox inside of him.

Answers to some of your questions:

itaral

1. Naruto is the first season while naruto shippuden is just the second season(bothh seasons are just very long/not all season have to be 12 episodes but most are)

Katherine H

This is an anime "you just have to watch". AoT I would say is technically better but Naruto will always be first to me. If you do watch, I recommend using a filler episode skip list.

itaral

2. Openings have mixes of scenes from the actual show and metaphors for the show.

Moshinoki

Some answers:

Moshinoki

Naruto is about the ninja world. The animals are invocations and the "magic" are ninja techniques. There is no dojo or whatever you said, and it goes way beyond the main village.

itaral

3. The one opening(10th opening) that was odd was made after huge natural disaster hit japan and it was meant to lighten the mood a bit/help people cope with the situation.

Moshinoki

Both the classical period and Shippuden are very dark. Classical is PG 14, Shippuden is NC 17.

Moshinoki

openings aren't clips from the show, they're animated separately.

Moshinoki

It's the sequel to Naruto Classic. Classic period ran from Oct 3rd 2002 to Oct 5th 2006, Shippuden from Feb 15 2007 to March 23 2017 and the second sequel, BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations has been running since April 5th 2017

itaral

4. (it mostly relates to the first question) Naruto premiered in 2002 and concluded in early 2007. Naruto shippuden premiered in late 2007 and concluded in 2017

Moshinoki

The three main characters are Naruto, who you identified correctly, Sasuke (pronounced Sass-kay), the black haired edgy guy (ice guy in your words), and Sakura, the pink haired miss uselessness

Moshinoki

The goofy tenth and eleventh openings happened right after the 2011 tsunami, so they made them more lighthearted

Tuco

Off the tip of my head the couple of anime that I don’t mind or prefer the dub for are Soul Eater, Bleach, PsycoPass, Magi, Fairytail, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Inuyasha

Laura van Lunteren

Naruto can look more complicated the further you go with the openings if you know nothing about it. It’s interesting to hear what you think might be going on. 😆 I was wondering if you could check out the Slayers, Slayer Next and Slayers Try openings? This is THE anime that got my sister and I hooked on anime.

Ben

my hero academia has a good dub that i prefer to the sub

Sven Hegenbart

Favorite OP is. „sign“ by FLOW. The song and animation fits the arcs so well. Last OP makes a good job of summarizing the show ends also you didn’t realize how they grow up again in comparison to the rest of them. In Shippuden they are all older and the stakes are higher with each arc so it’s darker but Naruto there are also some dark themed already. It’d always a mix between what actually happens in the arc or portraying the theme of it when they do the OP animation

Eliana

Trying to keep things simple here: Naruto is the prequel that sets up the world building and the main characters' personalities and motivations. Naruto Shippuden is basically the main plot after a time skip. Boruto (if you ever feel like reacting to it) is the spinoff about Naruto's son and acts kinda like a sequel.

KeanuofRivia

So you asked if these anime openings are actual scenes from the show, it depends on the show to be honest, and depends on the opening as well. You kind of have to be careful with shows like Attack on Titan because a couple of the openings show full on scenes from the series and have a tendency to spoil. A lot of Naruto is more metaphor than actual scene though till maybe the later openings. But there are a few scenes from the actual show spliced in here and there. Also if you're looking to get into Naruto actually watching it, you have a decision to make. Include the filler or don't. With the filler episodes that aren't necessarily even Canon to the show Naruto plus Naruto Shippuden is probably somewhere around 750 episodes total. It's absolutely bonkers how big it is

Thamor

As you are a person who can appreciate Original Voice Actors in language that you don't understand. Sub will be for you in every single 100% anime better. Dubs can only come to par with sub in some animes, but sub is always the right choice to go with a show. I will give you a very simple example. You want to watch and listen to Simpsons being dubbed in japanese? Always watch a show in it's original language is the way to go, it's not rocket science to be able to read subtitles.

Josh A

Anime Dubs that are as good as or better than the Sub this is just my opinion these two are better then the sub. Black Lagoon. (this show is based in a fictional sorta pirate city near thailand. so it makes more sense in the dub. and the dub is legit amazing.) Baccano. (the dub is spectacular and it takes place during 1930's america, the prohibition era. it's actively better than the Sub even the Japanese voice cast praised it.) Anime where the dub is as good as the sub. Code Geass: Lelouch of the rebellion. (it's just overall solid.) Initial D. (its a street racing anime. and alot of the humor is context based. i know the Dub missed some stuff but not alot. what it did was interpret the humor to make it more understandable.) Kenichi the mightiest disciple. (I don't care this dub was amazing and i will die on this hill fight me! lol but one of the funniest dubs and anime out there.) a lot of the Gundam English dubs even the older ones are actually really solid. there are a few more but those are the ones that i know off the top of my head. this is just my opinion.

Martin Vaclavik

As the viewers grew up watching Naruto, so did he and the themes of the show reflect that, it is much more deep and emotional than the original series, even tho the original is also quite deep and emotional for a children show... BTW, the author wanted to do a series about mages, but was forced to make it about ninjas, which is why he combined it and we got this masterpiece, where ninjas can do magic attacks :D rather than seasons, Naruto is split into story arcs and Naruto doesnt have a single bad/boring arc... you could almost say that each arc is better than the previous, but most people usually love "Chuunin Exam" arc in Naruto and "Pain" arc in Shippuuden the most, including me :D

Some0neElse

mages? i though the original concept had something to do with the ramen shop and i also heared that the MC was supposed to be a magical fox but then the studio forced him to change it to a more battle oriented story

Jeff

I think for Naruto as a whole probably the only "bad" arc is at the end of the original series where there was a lot of non-canon filler episodes. Not to say they were bad as they fleshed out a lot of the supporting characters, but people were just eager to get back into the main story that Shipuuden picked up.

Josh A

Also basic light spoiler/no spoiler details Naruto is the main Character The ice guy is called Sasuke (sah-sue-k) they are "ninja" there are 5 great Ninja villages and a bunch of little ones Ninja use Chakra to preform jutsu (magic) Clans are formed when a family develop secret techniques that give them an edge or when they develop Chakra mutations giving special powers. they can use chakra to control the elements, teleport create clones, sommon animals and more. no one can transform into animals all the transfomrations are due to special techniques, curse marks or straight having a tailed beast sealed inside you. there are 9 tailed beast's one tail - nine tails, they are immortal chakra spirits strong enough that there forces of nature. the nine tailed fox is the strongest. people being people wanted to use them as weapons. so they figured out a jutsu to seal them in people giving those people Demon like powers and Transformations. don't wanna preach or anything so i'll stop there but this is just a super basic cliff note idea of when, what where and why. hope you end up reacting to one of the former big 3 eventually.

Thamor

Good job saying instantly a spoiler for a person who has never seen Naruto...

Jeff

The biggest reason you don't see requests for Dragonball is that it didn't change its openings as often as other shows do. Just a quick search shows about a total of 14 minutes from Dragonball all the way through Super. Most aren't that interesting outside of the nostalgia factor.

NS

You're right that it's not spoilers but I still think those are things along the viewing journey that he would want to learn on his own

Josh A

true depending on his taste and such but at the same time most of what i mentioned is either first 1-10 eps naruto info or without context enough to not be anymore than the op's tell you still if its to much ill edit/delete it dont wanna ruin any ones experience

Tekbox

If you want to react to Naruto I'd recommend going for the Ocean cut. its made by a youtuber and cuts out almost all filler and a lot of repetitive flashbacks. I think it cuts out like a third of the runtime so that gives you an idea how bad naruto is with filler

Grey Steel

Please do Boruto (Naruto Shippuden sequel) and Dragon Ball openings

Zero2Antihero

Yeah, but also it's revealed in the pilot. It's a primary piece of the show's premise. No need to get on anyone's case about it

ForEverAlone

I don't think you ever go "wrong" with sub. Only Anime where dub is better (off the top of my head) is Ghost stories.

Tyler Rimmel

You should check out Demon Slayer OP next. They are great. I also always watch dub. If I wanted to read I'd buy manga

Michelle (monskling)

Naruto does not actually have whiskers, they are facial marks/scars

Logan Anderson

I really think you should listen to the 86 openings and endings

Legacy

Naruto is top 3 show for sure, you should watch it. For Dubs, Full metal alchemist/brotherhood, Death Note, Dragon ball is peak dub and mostly better then sub. Naruto is good aswell in dub

millecamps

can't help for dub vs sub because i'm french but i still think that sub will always be better because if only one voice is bad the whole dub is done for

Gabriel Cordeiro

Almost 90% of the scenes you see in these openings don't appear in the anime, they're just metaphors for what's happening this season, like a reference that you don't understand at first, but when you see the scene you get the reference and it makes sense.

millecamps

some scene are frome the show some were specialy created for the opening and some time there is scene that happened in the opening that were never shown in the show but that realy hapened a lot of scene in opening are used in a metaphorical way

DandyZombie

I love Naruto, mostly because it was one of my first anime's although I think its one of the weaker ones story wise so I wouldn't advise you to watch it until you are sure you want to commit, and 100%skip its filler, it has the worst filler out of all the big three. Now that you've done all the Naruto you really really really should do all the One Piece opening, I'd so sit down and watch an hour of you trying to piece that together from just the openings! its so much fun to see you try to figure out the story and making guesses and One Piece is one of the best ones to do that with because it isn't as heavy on the symbolism in its intro.

Wolfi

Ye I do recommend that too! Naruto is long asf as it is and many episodes and fillers are so out of place I dropped the series for like 2 years xd

Sylverfyst

Dragonball Z, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Fullmetal Alchemist all have great dubs mainly because of nostalgia and it was how I saw them growing up, but really that's pretty much it for me, I'm also a subs guy.

Sean Mcguinness

Code Geass has one of the best dubs in the entire industry, not to mention it's a 50 episode Anime which might be good for a beginner to get into!

May

The only anime that I recommend people watch the dub version is Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. The English voice acting is actually very good in this series.

Markus

Stick with subs, literally no reason why you should alternate between the two. I've checked out different dubbed anime scenes and the english dubs usually falls short compared to others (german, italian and russian dubs mostly). Don't know why people only talk about the english ones, seems like people don't want to read and watch at the same time. I think that japanese VA's are on a whole different level, especially when it comes to emotional and high-intensity scenes. Another big factor why I don't think you should do dubbed reactions is that the comedy in anime doesn't translate at all in any different language.

Markus

Naruto and Naruto Shippuden is definitely a must-see, but it's gonna take you years to finish the whole series unless you upload daily (and skip all the filler episodes).

Joe Boxer

I forgot if you said Dragonball Z but before reacting to DBZ openings, you should react to the Dragonball openings since that anime happens before Dragonball Z.

brad marsh

SUBS ALL THE WAY

higgins8000 .

Subs match the animation to the voice acting. Dubs do the opposite, this is reason enough for me to stick to subs only. IMO all content should be consumed in the language that it was created in.

Elevnovs

Sry for the copy paste but its true SUBS ALL THE WAY

Elevnovs

Just mentioning, an opening isnt really like a trailer, for example (at 18:20) the one opening u asked the questiuon if the shown stuff happens in the show, the answer is just no.......but it shows how Naruto keeps going cause of his freinds, the whole village and his dream to becoome ...... thats funny i klick play and u say metaphore, ye ur right xD

Frank Stendal

We Don't Talk About Baruto

Frank Stendal

Steins;Gate has pretty a pretty good dub.

Graem Sawyer

I usually go with the sub, but there are several anime where I prefer the dub, so these are just my personal preferences. There are a few anime I prefer the English dub off the top of my head, and they are: Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Baccano, Kill la Kill, Space Dandy, Code Geass, Yu Yu Hakusho, and FLCL. Oh! And Ghost Stories of course!

Volksradio

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is the only anime that I consider a MUST WATCH in the dub version

Abby

I always recommend watching the endings for anyone who watches the openings of this

Frank Stendal

I just noticed that each episode of Chainsaw Man will have their own ED. Might be worth looking at when the season is over... the 3rd one they just released is... unhinged 😂

Beta Knight

I prefer sub for everything but the shows I do pick dubs for are full metal alchemist brotherhood, naruto, fairy tail, dragon ball, Hunter x hunter. I believe there are a couple more but these have some great voice acting when it comes to dubs.

bethany

I don't watch many anime, but I have a few favorites and you checked out MHA's openings, so I would say for that one both the sub and dub are great, I've watched it with both more than once. Happy watching!

bethany

Also, I do hope you'll endeavor to watch/react to Naruto Shippuden, though I do recommend watching Naruto first for context. It's a big undertaking, though! No pressure!

UserNameNotTaken

There are very few really good dubs, even fewer dubs better than original VO, so subs all the way for me :) Also, answering your Naruto popularity question: it's basically the same for the most of "shounen" genre - "it's easy to consume". You don't need a week break after watching yet another episode just to think about what you've just seen (although you are bound to watch it once a week if the show is ongoing). Almost nothing happens (with rare but major exceptions, yes) in a single episode, but you get a lot of hooks and cliffhangers each time - so you want to watch more and more of it. Same approach works even for One Piece: almost any 24-minute episode could be compressed into 12 minutes with no impact on amount of information or emotions you get from it. Hic svnt fillers. Imagine removing at least 5 minutes from any AoT episode - this would already affect it in a very bad way; short (yes, 100 episodes of AOT is considered short in such terms) series are far more condensed because when you go and buy a single cour (cour = ~12 episodes = ~12 weeks = 1Q) of air time, you have to make people actually watch it AND crave for the next season. Long (300+ episodes) anime series don't bother adding more content to a single episode, they already have almost infinite contract with the channel - their MO is "keep people watching it as long as possible". Sadly, but such approach rarely makes the series better. TL;DR Long anime = low density = easy to binge = lower quality ^ Naruto here ^ Short anime = high density = takes time to digest = higher quality ^ AoT here ^

Kaitou Mara

You should do Boruto openings

Jessimi G

Full Metal Alchemist has good Sub and Dub versions for sure. Its honestly hard (in my opinion) to find anime's with both Sub and Dub being good. To answer your question about openings: Most often they are 'metaphors' in a sense to mirror what's going on in the show, and not actual scenes. That isn't always the case... some animes put literal scenes in, but in a lot of these Naruto ones, they are just expressions of the current story more than anything.

Daniel Mata

I wouldn't say seasons but arc is a better word when it comes to naruto. Seasons is great for attack on titan, but not for naruto
