Okay, so in the LN we do hear a claim of what would have happened in the alternative timeline, but I'll let the anime decide if it's going to explain before actually spoiling it. Some thing do happen in the LN that are never explained in the anime, like how Badigadi's first sighting before his arrival at the university was a major national incident, and they were expecting an absolute catastrophe. When Rudeus was waiting for his staff, the faculty were trying to prevent Sylphie from delivering it to him so they could try and buy a little bit of time. They were absolutely floored when Badigadi was blasted into pieces, only to declare Rudeus the winner, and requested that he be allowed to attend the university, even giving one of his arms so they could study his immortality. Badigadi also told Rudeus shortly afterwards that no magic below king tier could pierce his battle aura, and that Rudues' stone canon was comparable to Emperor tier in power. Only God tier is higher.
