Josh Ashford

Season 2 absolutely cooks, I can't wait

Dark_Rider

Luke, i swear you scared the shit out of me with your intro xd

Luminous

I love how Thorfinn, who was tagging along, pillaging villages and all sorts of things, and Einar, who is a victim of such actions, are now put in the same room, same environment, I think it opens room to a whole different conversation.

FaerieRose

Luke, stop calling the slave owner a legend and a great guy. Owning other people makes him a bad person, even if he treats them “nicely”.

Joku Jussi

I've been watching him long enough to mute the first 2 seconds so I don't scare my neighbors.

Robert H.

The frame with Thorfinn as a child in front of the burning village is from episode 5. He was a child who really wanted to go to war. It was there where he saw for the first time what war really means.

isaac basabe

Vinland, my top 3 just after Code Geass and Psycho Pass. :)

Nate Ming

I liked Vinland Saga as a violent revenge story, sure But it's this story arc (all throughout season 2) that made it one of my top five favorites--and I read the manga first! This took a while!

Jenish S

It was the norm. Morals change as we progress as a society. For his time, Ketil indeed was a good slave owner.

Jacob May

Spoilers for this season of Vinland Saga. Don’t complain about Luke saying that Ketil is the best slave master that Thorfinn and Einar could’ve hoped for because that’s literally the point the story is trying to make. The story wants you too feel like Ketil is a good guy at heart to later show his true colors when cornered. The point is to show that “good” slave owners are still terrible people. Obviously slave owners are terrible but let the story do the storytelling.

Nate Ming

1- yeah, owning people's fucked up and wrong, BUT 2- let the season play out, I'm sure a lot of us also went "huh, Ketil is really nice"

Abe J

In this episode of Ketil's Farm Life, the boys sharpen their tools and chop stuff, and poor Patar is misunderstood 😢

Something about Vinland season 1 felt off, just something indescribable about it. Maybe it was more in the production. I felt that same way in 2019. Still a 9.5/10 but I think Mappa made this season a complete 10/10

yorozuyapetel

obviously being a slave owner is bad, but he isnt treating them like slaves, to get a slave owner this kind and forgiving in a time like this is like finding a diamond in a pile of nuclear waste

yorozuyapetel

one criteria for my favorite shows is that they affect me in some way on a personal level, be that through an artistic form like the monogatari series, the life lessons shared by the author like in march comes in like a lion and gintama, or shows that show you how to be a better person like re:zero, and vinland saga. vinland saga has always been high on my list, but season 2 really is something. its gonna be torture having to wait weeks between episode with these reactions, i binged season 2 the first time for this reason exactly (not because of cliffhangers, but the lack thereof)

Is the video in 320p or what's going on? This is not the most comfortable resolution to watch.

also he's not a bad person, this was considered normal at the time. some cultures will think you're a bad person for eating meat but it doesn't make you evil. just because its not normal now doesn't mean it never was. on top of ketil being a normal person for the time, he is also a nice slave owner that treats people well so in terms of the year this was set in, ketil is actually a very good guy for helping slaves earn their freedom while being nice to them.

Subaquatic Toaster

Slave owner: Totally nice guy. Legend actually. Freed slave: Asshole. Douchebag. Im joking but it did make me laugh.

Robert H.

It's the same animation team. They were just absorbed by Mappa.

rostikowb

First rule of Luke's community - mute the first 5 seconds of the video 😂

rostikowb

No, he is a very good man for his time. In 100 years, keeping pets may be considered on par with slavery today. Or being binary will be considered evil, you never know

rostikowb

@Jacob May In fact, history shows that he was really a good guy, but he became a bad guy, while Torfin was bad but he became a good guy. It was the same with Canut, he was on the verge of turning into his "bad" father In general, the notion of good and bad is so stretchy that it is quite difficult to operate with it. For example, a philanthropist who has been helping people all his life, but also smokes, swears and throws cigarette butts everywhere, is he good or bad? Is a soldier who kills invaders good or bad? And if a person was good for a third of his life, bad for a third, and good for the last third, then who is this person? Better listen to the words that Armin said to Annie in the first season of AOT 😂

rostikowb

That's right, social status should not give you any indulgences, if you are a poor dick, you are still a dick 😂

rostikowb

It's simple, the Patreon team are lazy asses. Write them an email with a request to add the option to choose the quality to the player

9:00 the reason for Thorfinn being the way he is now is really simple, he lost his entire reason for living the last decade+ when Askeladd died, leaving him with no idea what to do next. He's lost in his own head right now. Add to that he attacked one of the princes of Denmark Canute, he's lucky to have not been killed on the spot. He got put into slavery instead, hence why he's on the farm working.

Kyle Garrett

I kind of understand why the son is so upset all the time. He just feels like no one cares about him, they only care about who his father is and what they can get from getting close to him. So he gets mad at his father for expecting him to give up on his own dreams for the sake of the fathers dreams, and he thought the girl cared for him, only to hear the parents outside talking about wanting to baby trap him and use him to get into the family, so of course he'd be hurt and pissed about that too. Considering his age and his lack of knowledge about the work, he was obviously spoiled, no excuses there, but I could see him joining Thorfinn and the other guy (dunno his name still) when they inevitably leave this place. The wanna be warrior, the man that hates warriors, and the former(?) warrior.

Devilish132 .

18:10 Yeah. Except it doesn't apply to Hibike Euphonium. Every character there looks like main character, even the background ones. But that's KyoAni, so kind of obvious.

Just Mate

I kinda understand what you meant with Season 1 For me personally I think it's because S01 has a ton of setups, while many of the payoffs only happen in this season. Season 1 was great, but it was really just a prologue, that showed us why characters are the way they are during the "main story".

Zer0

I wonder how long it will take for Luke to adapt to this season.

ClerZz IMO

Sounds like an issue on your end because it was fine when I watched it.

Orieng

Fun fact, most farms from back then is still there. I know since i live by one of them in Denmark :) We even have viking graves close by

donald cuck

this season is the reason why vinland saga has been nominated anime of the year, its mainly because of this season that we said you d put vinland saga in your top anime list, but you'll understand soon

patros36

You should check out the ending song at least once as well. its a beautiful song.

patros36

Nah its mostly patreon, there's no reason for the video player to not have a quality setting. You just have a more stable connection, but a stable connection isn't really needed for video players. I doubt BlekDimon has issues playing any youtube videos in 720/1080p.

rostikowb

@patros36 The Internet is rarely completely stable, for example, someone else connected to the router and opened a tiktok, there will be a drop in Internet speed for a while. But for this, video players have buffering, when a couple of minutes of video are loaded ahead of time. Patreon's video player also has buffering, but instead of using the already downloaded part of the video and downloading further at the same time, the player reduces the video quality and downloads it again. Not only is this uncomfortable for users, but it also puts an additional burden on their servers. And all they need to do is to add the option to select the quality, if the user sees that his Internet connection is not pulling it, he can reduce it himself

Anggst

this season they changed tags and removed action from them

Some0neElse

Man, i love this opening... and its visuals kinda remind me of Vikings opening And about Thorfinn not looking like himself - happens when you lose your drive
