The Overlord Novels are ok. I have started reading them from the start before season 4 of anime was released, but I dropped them on the 5th volume around Sebastian mini ark. I found the writing not as exciting as the anime. If you want a world you will question a lot about with an amazing novels to boot, once again, check out Ascendance of a Bookworm. Fingers crossed 4th season of that show which will be done by the same studio as first 3 seasons of Attack on Titan will draw more attention to the story. Unfortunately first 3 seasons were low key low budget with cut corners although they hit like a truck in a few aspects. Ascendance of a Bookworm forever fan :P But yeah, waiting for the Overlord movie this summer as well.

Yeah the writing for the novels is abysmal since it's almost a direct translation of the Japanese. Normal English speakers do not write or speak like that. It's a very amateurish translation. That said some fan translations are actually pretty good, and make it more exciting to read. Other LNs have the same issue.
