There was a final vote on YouTube between Bocchi, Food Wars, and Gurren Lagann. Since Bocchi and Food Wars were so close both were included, and Bocchi ended up winning that vote by a pretty wide margin.

The name of the band is Kessoku Band literally translates to zip tie, so it's a pun. Bocchi was always the last standing in dodgeball because she's invisible to everyone was the joke.

regarding future Patreon votes I just want to say that while Its fine to loosen restrictions somewhat if that's what we want. I do think we need some restrictions, as I don't think long shows with well over 50 episodes that can be watched on twitch/ youtube should be allowed to take the 2 slots for Patreon episodes as that will mean we never get to the shows that can only go here and cannot be on youtube.

All songs are sang by the VA's. Some endings are different and they are songs snag by different ones if the main 4. There's the normal ed and the other ED's sang by the VA's.

The VA for Kita sings the OP and first ED, as well as all of their songs that have vocals. Ryo sings the second ED, Nijika sings the third ED, and Hitori sings the fourth ED for the series.

There are some great instrumental bands that do live shows, best recent example is probably Polyphia, they have some phenomenal stuff! "GOAT" and "Playing God" are probably my favourites.

Well Nijika asked if Bocchi is athletic and she replied no, but she's always the last person remaining in dodgeball for some reason. I think this implies that Bocchi doesn't think she is athletic but always "seems" to last until the end. I think if she was always the last to be picked she would have worded it differently. But either way the joke still works.

If you want to see something similar but in different genres just watch Yuru Camp or Wotakoi. First is the ultimate feels good comfy anime about camping and 2nd is rare romance anime about adults that does romance very well, its also about nerds so its a win win.

Basically Kessoku Band’s songs are sung for the majority by the voice actor of the lead singer of the band in the show. The only exceptions are the endings of the anime. Each character’s voice actor gets one of them each. Kessoku Band’s music is so damn awesome though and you’ll see as the series progresses. Fun fact: Kessoku Band was Suisei’s most listened to band of 2023!

While Bocchi is awesome, the music is awesome, please, Luke: Look for anime and anime music references at every turn. You will get some pretty obvious ones, others are sublime, but it’s literally dozens of shows and bands that are referenced , on posters, walls, pictures and through animation (d‘oh).

Yeah Bocchi the rock is awesome show. K-on is another great show to watch. it came out around 2010, but bocchi definently got inspiration from it.

The “always last in dodgeball” line is a joke on how certain girls tend to sit in the back and not do anything. This makes it very hard for high school kids to get them out causing her to be last in dodgeball.

Time to rewatch this a 6th time (I think). I love how the dad is just faceless for no reason and it's not even like he isn't an important or shady character. You'll meet the singer later. Kessoku bando = zip tie Kessoku = unity Bando = band (as in rubber band, usually) So their band is basically called "zip tie"/"unity band" as a pun. That's where the joke at the end comes from "There are no 'ties' in this band at all" <-referring to zip tie. The actual word used was kessoku/unity, aka "There is no 'unity' in this unity band/zip tie at all" As a sidenote, sometimes hearing that other people have the same issue as you can make them feel less alone and ive comfort. So it can make a difference, if you choose to talk about your problems.

Hitoribocchi just means “alone”, “lonesome”, or “by oneself”. It has a negative, lonely nuance but by itself doesn’t describe someone’s personality, just their current situation. You’ll have to use phrases like “always bocchi”, or “the type of person to quickly become bocchi” to describe personality, etc.

Katie Wyatt I do not understand how you reached that opinion/conclusion 1) in the beginning of the episode one can see the band on the tv that inspired Bochi to play guitar having full faces It is just that the dad has no full face reveal for reasons unknown to me (could be meme/trope/the manga did not show the fathers full face either) 2) If this was aimed at a female demographic (Shōjo, Josei) it would more often that not have hot looking male characters instead of excluding them by removing all male faces 3) Bocchi the Rock! is a 4-koma manga which was/is released in the magazine called "Manga Time Kirara MAX" which only has four-panel seinen manga and Seinen is the category of Japanese manga marketed toward young adult men.

To explain the pun in the band name, the band's name is "Kessoku Band", which literally translates to "Tie Band", which is what they call Zip ties. So the band name can be taken to mean both "Zip-tie" and Tie Band" (The word Tie in the latter referring to connections between people). Hence the pun at the end: "There's no "Ties" in this band at all!" by Nijika.

This anime is wholesome and hilarious. And the budget looks like is off the roof with all the animation style switches and experimentation you will see in a single episode. Also, the hand positions for the instruments are totally accurate since they motion captured real pros playing to animate it. Let's go, Bocchi the Box!

I just got back from Tokyo and they're doing a Bocchi roadshow of some sort this week. They had posters and stuff up at the Toho theater with Bocchi in a Godzilla outfit. I got a small one in a crane game before I left. So Bocchi is apparently still popular in Japan.

The band for the OP and all the EDs is the band in the anime. Each ED is actually sung by the voice actor for each of the main girls in the band. The first ED (and the OP) is sung by the VA of Kita the red haired girl. The second is sung by Ryo’s (the blue haired bassist) VA. The third is sung by the voice actress for Nijika the drummer. There is also a 4th ED that you did not react to that was sung by Bocchi’s VA

Zombie Land Saga does not get the attention it deserves. However, if I'm being honest, I prefer the dub. I've watched the whole show in both dub and sub but I just don't like Kotaro's sub voice. A lot of people love it and I don't really get why, but to each their own I suppose.

In general terms I would agree but you have to make exceptions for the various ways language shifts. E.g. nobody should be rendering the term for "apartment building" as [Mansion] even though that's the English word they use. Since nobody in my part of the English speaking world would refer to a music venue as a "live house", I'd say localizing it was the right call.
