WHO IS THIS DUDE?????

Here is the FULL and UNBLURRED reaction to VINLAND SAGA Episode 9!

Enjoy!!

Comments

Honky

Thorkell* is the goat, my favourite character by far

Nate Ming

I was so hyped for AC Valhalla, but them adding a stamina bar killed it for me Also, the T on Luke's hat is for Thorfinn

Subaquatic Toaster

Thorkill? Who did Thor Kill? Jokes aside, Thorkell is best boy.

Sai

Best boy is here!

Link

Thorkell is the GOAT :D I have a feeling you'll love him.

Peyrino

HYPE

Frenzy Flame

we need to highlight that this Thorkell is the second one for Thorfinn to lose against, and by far! Thorfinn never been crushed like this, this explains how his face looked after regrouping with the army.

FaerieRose

This is obviously a fictional version of him, but Thorkell the Tall was a real person. A lot of the characters in this series are historical figures. Once you finish season two, it might be interesting to watch a video comparing the anime characters/events to their real life counterparts.

Nate Ming

Another cool thing about Vinland Saga is how uncomfortable it makes you Like, it's awesome to watch Thorfinn be a little four-foot-tall murder machine, but you also really feel for him because he's a child who's stuck doing these awful things just to stay alive

Asher Sanjan Abraham

Lads, I believe we should petition Luke to react to episodes 23 and 24 TOGETHER on the Sunday he does 23. Wouldn't y'all agree?

Matthew Valentine

“What’s so enjoyable about battle?” Says thorfinn who has chosen on multiple occasions to make battle the only thing in life he cares about

SamJaz

So Thorkell is the author's favourite character, and has often been referred to as Yukimura's fourth son. He the cutest waifu in the entire series and best boi murderhobo.

SamJaz

So Japanese works on syllables. Ka-Nu-Te, which matches the widely used spelling of Canute. Being British, you'd know him better by how we spelled his name in school, Cnut.

Juho Kaartoaho

It's Thorfins story, but Askelad is arguably the MC of season 1.

Asher Sanjan Abraham

Luke went from being so ultra excited "YAY, GODDAMN THE ENTRANCES IN THIS SHOW MAN, THEY'RE SO WELL DONE" to being conflicted when seeing Thorfinn, a young teen kid fighting a monster in a political war, all bruised and battered.

Asher Sanjan Abraham

Yukimura sensei has done and continues to do FANTASTIC work with this series, it's coming to a close probably late next year and I'm all for it.

Emilis2023

It'd be hard for anyone to argue Askelad isn't the best character of the show in terms of writing at least, but I have the most fun when Thorkel's on screen. The guy's like charismatic and lovable Goliath.

WuXian Suibian

Thorkell basically chose the "losing side" so he can fight the most. He just enjoys fighting.

Miklar Sihn

Thorkell is the best girl in anime. Thorkell just has a sincere and heartfelt love for these fights. Thorkell the tall (Thorkild den høje) is a real viking btw. I also seem to remember a mention of him joining the english.

Just Mate

Canute was a real (just as many other characters in this anime) and quite significant person, so that's probably why the name sounds familiar

rostikowb

Luke, your bro Nicholas released a video with his top anime OPs, do you want to make a reaction and compare your tastes? :)

Frentzy

askeladd was contender for antagonist of the year but only lost to eren yeager. IF NOT for eren, askeladd would've been best antagonist of the year, which shows how well he's written.

Eric Michel

It solidifies that in Thorfinn's eyes, battle is a mean to an end, nothing more, contrary to what it seemed in the beginning.

OvidLiam

Which is insane, assuming you're talking about the vote-based one, where more popular animes get more votes cuz they're popular.

Frentzy

@OvidLiam, I am talking about that one, and I remember Gigguk being salty that askeladd didn't win

BeardSensei

The weirdness might be from the fact he is still a teenager during these war times and everyone around him are adults. At this point in the series he is around 16-17 years old. So while he is a badass, by our standards he is still a child. That also means he has been traveling around with Askeladd for around 10 years

Nick

I agree with you on AC Valhalla. My favorite of the new titles is Origins for sure. Valhalla has a really great world to explore as well

dragean greyfield

Trying to bribe a battle addict with money… rookie mistake.

SilverWolfGn

Now that you mention assassin's creed valhalla, there is a special in the manga promoting the game, a crossover between vinland saga and AC, it has no spoilers so you can search for it and it happens shortly before where you are in the anime This is the official site of the spot: https://ubisoft.co.jp/acv/vinland-saga-collaboration-manga

Baumfigger

I thought I could see the reactions to vinland saga here first. I mean 2-3 days before the video is on youtube :c But there is no differences :o

James Perrott

is yesterdays Sword art online stream being uploaded soon?

Stefan

Thorkell the Tall, a.k.a Ze ha ha ha or Iskandar! Very nice guy, he is always very friendly with Floki. Thorfinn did an amazing job in this fight. Askeladd couldn't be more asshole than this, that stand that I don't give a fuck about Thorfinn:))) Canute very silent and dangerous guy:) King&Floki both suck

William Pina

The problem is that Askeladd isn't an antagonist, he's a deuteragonist Edit: But Erin isn't an antagonist either

William Pina

I'm surprised that he's not familiar with Canute, I thought most people in Europe would be

axilir21

He didn't stream yesterday, he watched SAO movie today, Tuesday stream is also cancel, then Thursday is HxH and next Saturday SAO

axilir21

I think you should react to Gigguk's interview with Vinland Saga's author, it's very interesting when he talks about Askeladd (after having watched the show tho)

2024-05-02 01:48:43 Funniest thing is that Thorkell the Tall is one of the only characters in the show who is a real person from history. (And his career was pretty amazing.)

well not really? so many more characters are based on real people, canute, leif, sweyn, even thorfinn himself has been based on thorfinn karlsefni

Bilal Abdulhalim

yea idk what bro is talking about Vinland Saga has a lot of characters based on historical figures

Ale

I'm behind like 2 weeks, but your comment at the end made me remember that interview that Gigukk did to Yukimura sensei (Vinland Saga author), you should definitely check it after you finish the first season!

Ryan Palyo

thorfinn, canute, leif, sweyn, and other important figures like the english kings, norway's kings, etc., are all real figures.

David Pulver

Yes. I was thinking of ongoing characters who we spend a lot of time with. Canute, Thorfin, Leif, and Thorkel are real, as you say; I've mentioned that in other posts you can go see Thorfin's statue in Iceland. All of the kings, as you say, are real, but we don't see them that much. But the majority of characters -- Thors and (Thorfin aside) his family, Ashkeladd (as a person, not a name) and his band (Bjorn, etc.), are all fictional, as are most of the characters (kings aside) from the 2nd season.
