Ah I remembered liking this, pity they didn’t continue it. Didn’t end up chasing the LN after a certain point but they stopped the anime a bit too soon….

the rumors/theorys state t his anime takes place in the future of Sword Art Online and one of the main characters is Kirito and Asuna's child. But yeah this ones definitely worth watching. Its basically another VRMMO like sword art online except its a fighting game, its basically if Sword Art Online was Street Fighter instead of an RPG

I never watched the anime, but have read part of the Manga. It was quite good. Imagine SAO, but instead of a game it is THE INTERNET, as a full virtual world were anyone can have an avatar into it. Much like what Meta is trying to create, now that I think about it 😅

Literally imagine a game like pokemon go but with personalised randomoy created mecha and skills based on your stats, all playing in your head via a neruralink XD and time in-game is accelerated a lot compared to reality. If I remember correctly. Basically gaming sessions in minds against connected users in a shared universe, a mmo but u walk a lot. lol. if am not wrong. I wont say more, watch for answers. I do not really recommend except music, concept and art tho.

The story is officially unofficially connected to SAO. While the creator has stated they are not connected the technology in accel world used for their VRMMO tech is the same nerve gear from SAO. However SAO is in the 2020's and AW takes place in 2046 so its a bit later timeline wise. Also still requesting Eureka seven OP's + storywriter OST!

Both Accel World and SAO's series were created by Reki Kawahara. Accel World's anime came out before SAO but the series was created some time after he started SAO. And yeah one of my issues with it despite loving the series overall was the casual nudity involving middle schoolers. It's never full on but there are too many situations that really didn't need to go as far as they did. Accel World is set in the future where the current generation of kids have had a nuerolinker connected Augmented Reality internet device nearly since birth. Pretty much a combo of having an internal AR filter over your vision or going full dive into a virtual environment. Since it's set later than when SAO is by about 20 years it's presumed this is the future of the technology and later things you get into in SAO do kind of mesh with the idea. As far as the characters you are getting at least two or three versions of each. Their IRL look (usually the school or casual clothes), their normal net avatars (Pig is the chubby kid, The girl in her cat ears, the black haired girl in her black dress and butterfly wings), and finally their Accelerated World avatars are the mech suit looks. But the connections have been compounded between SAO and Accel World with multiple crossovers including Manga and Video Games.

So, to explain, Accel World also takes place inside a videogame, well, two different games, actually. What we see in the openings and endings are mostly the avatars of the characters in the show, the main character being the chubby short guy whose character is the little pig in one of the games and the Dead Space looking armour in the other. The main female protagonist is the chick with the black hair, Kuroyukihime, which inside the game has the black butterfly avatar, which looks just like her.

Also, to understand ending 2, both people sitting at the table represent the same girl, just different facets of her. Kuroyukihime in real life and is quite stoic, shy and doesn't know how to interact with people very well, but inside the game, with her butterfly avatar, she is MUCH more brazen.

Hmm it is introduced as something similar to "Sword Art Online" and not a single thought goes like "oh maybe its just their game avatars"? Kirito (Sword Art Online) often says that he wants to become a game developer. I dont know if it is ever confirmed or revealed (only know both stories as far as they are adapted as anime) but I always thought for myself that Accel World is the game Kirito created and which is like an upgraded version of Sword Art Online because it can be played anywhere and without big extra gear like the VR helmet. There is also an OVA that features a cross over between both animes.

Honestly, the entire show is kinda mid, even for when it came out, and it hasn't aged that well. I used to enjoy it like 10 years ago a decent amount, but there are like 500+ better shows to watch before you get around this this one, even as a SAO enjoyer.

Holy crap holy crap holy crap!!!! FINALLY!!! I actually love Accel World (books and anime) a little more than SAO, and that's saying something.i got to volune 24, and took a fatal break. Time to get back on those badass books.

It is writen by the same auther and is suposedly later in the timeline of the SAO world. In it, people have a collar that is essentialy a nuro-link allowing them to full dive from anywhere. The show focuses on an invite only fighting game

The black haired girl's part is one that involves her vulnerability often, and her needs vs her roles. So, her nakedness does have relevance. Then again, she is one of THE old school waifus if that era. She the Asuna is the show, except she is FAR more violent, and WAY smoother with as....whatever you'll find out she is.

What we call Power Rangers in the West, is based on Super Sentai. Which is a long running series, in what I would class as Henshin Hero, or Transforming Hero. That's a super hero genre where the heroes don't have their powers all the time. Fighting magical girl anime also overlaps with this genre, in my opinion.

Know why people connected that with SAO? It's not a Power Rangers anime xD It's another game, virtual reality anime, and it's in the same universe as SAO, different timeline though. The Pig Avatar, is VR avatar of the MC - Chubby Guy. Him & Butterfly Girl, are like Kirito & Asuna of this anime. They are playing that "mecha" game, it is actually unique game only chosen people get to play, but Piggy is actually goated.

If you are looking for a Japanese Power Rangers comparison, it's called "Super Sentai". And yes, the Super Sentai series were the ORIGINAL shows. Power Rangers is the Westernized version of Super Sentai. The genre itself is called "Tokusatsu", which means "special photography". Kaiju (like Godzilla), Mech and Superhero are tokusatsu subgenres.

Set in the same world as SAO. Has nothing really to do with SAO beyond the setting, same author. It's a possible alternate future for SAO, 20 years in the future. There's a few easter eggs, but nothing major. The characters play a game very seriously.

Yeah, I'd expect there to be a vote too, but this opening/ending reaction was also voted in so it seems there is enough fans in Luke's viewer base for Accel World to win.

Accel world is written by the same author of sao. Although set in different universes accel world has many sao easter eggs in its show.

Accel World has the same worldview as SAO. In particular, the heroine Black Snow uses Kirito's skill "Vorpal Strike". From this, we can infer who she is related to.

Same universe but accel world is set further into the future and can be seen as a direct sequel to SAO. A side story novel was written by Mr. Kawahara where Kirito crossed time and ended up in the story of accel world. Iirc it was a canon event.
