During my visit to the Tokyo Festival Of Modular, I also toured electronic component shops in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Akihabara is well-known for its shops related to anime, games, and a wide array of electronic components.
While it's easy to purchase electronic components online, the unique underground vibe of Akihabara's parts shops holds a special charm.
Here are the stores I visited:
- Akizuki Denshi
This is the most famous electronic component shop in Japan. It stocks a wide variety of parts used in synthesizers, including items like the 3340 chip. - Sengoku Densho
An entire floor dedicated to guitar parts, offering items like pickup coils, variable resistors, and a diverse range of knobs. - Denki no Ken-chan (Ken-chan's Electronics)
Here, you can find niche PCB ASSY made by individuals.
They have several boards using Yamaha's FM sound source IC.
I bought a small Arduino UNO R4-compatible board here.
