I attended the Tokyo Festival of Modular (TFOM) on November 25, 2023.
TFOM is Japan's biggest event for modular synths, featuring exhibitions, sales from modular synth makers, and live performances, among other things.

Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, the event had downscaled in the past two years, but it has now returned to its usual scale.

When I first started getting into modular synths, the pandemic was already in full swing, so TFOM 2023 marks my first participation in a large-scale modular synth event.

I bought a few modules and enjoyed conversations with designers from Japanese garage manufacturers.
Roughly half of the attendees and exhibitors were Japanese, while the other half hailed from Europe and America.

Among the live performances by artists from both domestic and international backgrounds, one that particularly intrigued me was tamiX from China.
Her performance with the enormous Buchla system, was stunning and garnered the most enthusiastic response.
