Arduino uno R4 is now available.

It is equipped with an MCU made by Renesas Electronics, and its faster processing and DAC show great potential.

With 5V I/O and many ADCs, the MCU is easy to use for modular synths compared to the Raspberry Pico.

A small Arduino R4 compatible board was sold in Japan.

It is expected that less expensive boards will be available worldwide in the near future.

Some have implemented reverb FX using DAC. It seems to work well with audio.

Development boards using Renesas MCUs are rare.

The background to the use of Renesas MCUs in Arduino this time is that Renesas has made a large investment in Arduino.
In 2022, a Renesas executive joined the Arduino board of directors.

I know that this post is from a year ago, but what are your thoughts on the newly announced Raspberry Pico 2?

I think the Raspberry Pico 2 is a very appealing microcontroller board for DIY synth projects. If I had any complaints, it would be the limited number of ADCs
