EOL for old semiconductors, X-Day is approaching (Patreon)

End of life (EOL) for semiconductors is scary.

Recently, the LM13700 DIP package has entered the EOL list. This means that many DIY modules will not be able to be made in the near future.

There are two types of semiconductor manufacturing processes: front-end and back-end. The front-end process in particular is undergoing a generational shift.

Of the silicon wafers used to make semiconductor chips, the supply of 5-inch wafers used in older semiconductors is drying up.

Even if the equipment to produce semiconductors is still available, EOL is inevitable if the small diameter wafers that are used as materials are no longer available.
