It sucks to see Shirogane being such a simp and doubting himself so much. It's good that Kaguya acknowledged that she's been awful to him, but I'll be pretty pissed if he doesn't get an apology before Kaguya gets what she wants, whether or not he realizes he deserves one. She definitely knows he does.

"I am 17 and this is deep" so true hahaha I must say basically no one would do what Shirogane does for Kaguya (blame on him too) and still goes after that person after the attitude he received. We have the background and the Hayasaka helping to keep the thing going but if this was real life it would be over by now.

Cause this is so dramatic for no reason... I think the whole school would be rooting for them to call it off atp if this was real 💀you gotta have some NERVE to do all that and still think Shirogane is gonna come chasing. Kaguya's a different breed

This arc was really divisive in the fanbase when the chapters were coming out. Ice Kaguya was not a fan favorite.

I do get why people have an antagonistic view of Kaguya, given how clearly toxic she is being towards others, but I don't really agree with the sentiment that it's being justified by explaining the circumstances. Understanding why people think and act the way they do is important, and I think people saying "Just act different" defeats the point of what the show is trying to say. Both Kaguya and Shirogane have a great deal of trauma, and it manifests in different ways: Kaguya was abused and neglected, and she adopted a persona to survive in a loveless environment. Shirogane was cast aside by his mother, and made to feel worthless, unless he attains some arbitrary goal to make himself feel worthy of love. The mask symbolism is precisely what people are complaining about, just saying "act better" is in fact, choosing aspects of yourself to highlight or hide to create a persona that you believe the other person will like more than how you really are. There isn't a single personality trait that makes up a person, but a collection of faulty assumptions and defense mechanisms that come about through experiencing the various issues and traumas that come with life. Those toxic and negative things are attached to real aspects of your personality, and so you interpret those personalities as being inherently toxic/bad. It's a common thing in therapy when dealing with trauma and self hatred to decouple those things and recognize that one isn't beholden to another. One can't simply flip a switch and undue an entire life of abuse and trauma, even if you recognize that the behavior that comes from it is harming others, if it was then therapy wouldn't need to exist. It also doesn't help that it's anime, so everything is exaggerated for emphasis, even positive aspects of characters we see would be annoying in real life, so it's more of understanding the concepts they are representing imo.

The whole direction of the anime stands awkward to me after this arc cause they're making it comedic but also throwing in serious topics that I don't care for as a viewer personally. I'm laughing one second the next I'm confused if I should be awww-ing or crying cause it's so fast 🧍‍♀️ it feels super strange. I care more about ishigami, iino and tsubame than I do about those two cause I came to have a good time not listen to kids talk about how difficult and traumatic their life is/was. I already have enough of that in my real life
