I love this show but Akashi's whole backstory is so corny to me. It's just basketball, its not that serious

What I understood from his backstory is that: The 1v1 against Murasakibara and the realization about the other talents getting stronger made the other Akashi appear, he needed to be strong alone to be on the same level as the other GoM players, but now he's realizing and returning to be the old Akashi who liked to play as a team and realized that he needed the other GoM players to win the first and second championship, he now needs the old one, the "new" one can't defeat Kuroko. The old one is weaker alone, but stronger as a team.

Also, I would like to recommend you to watch Hajime no Ippo! I love sports anime, Haikyuu and KnB are both on my favorites list, but the top 1 favorite is Hajime no Ippo, it's simply AMAZING.

I mean, you could say that "it's just basketball" about a lot of characters in this show, basketball is a big part of their lives after all, but with Akashi it's a level further because he also has this: "I need to excel in everything I do, no matter what" yeah, this is not normal but I think that's the point, he has to chill in general, not just basketball lol. Like this could be a show about chess, the problem is that he made his whole personality about winning and winning.

Seconding this - Dia no Ace is incredibly underappriciated for an anime with possibly the most realistic storyline for sport shonen.

Hell yeah. I third this as well. Diamond no Ace is awesome. It combines a lot of the good parts from Haikyuu and Kuroko and even though its Baseball its pretty easy to understand the rules while you watch it.

My favourite episodes of season 3 are 23, 24, 25 and 25,5 which is OVA. Those are my favourite and Akashi is my favourite from the Generation of Miracles. Sorry that I write this my comment this late. I just love these episodes so much.
