I listen to Fear& and I can say nothing about QTs performance made me concerned or annoyed. I thought it was a great episode and I thought it was funny when Hasan assumed she was into Stanley cup and she shut him down. It made me laugh cause he seemed so disappointed he stereotyped her wrong.

Great and interesting convos today! That lip read thing reminds me of watching those NFL bad lip reading videos, hilarious and once you see it that’s all you hear. I am a big Comedy Fan Jo Koy comedy style is similar to Russel Peters, jokes about his family, and Filipino background. So as a fan of his JO koy his first special on Netflix is very good. I also saw him live before Covid at JFL in Toronto. I was surprised that he would even do this as it doesn't seem his style. Read that 5 other comedians were offered it and said no. and that Jo got the job 10 days before, so makes sense that he wrote some and writers did too, I believe that is pretty common for these events anyway. I like comedy goes against the grain, the jokes were going with the grain so they fell short/ Hacky. As I said big comedy fan and I am here for the laughs, keep those jokes coming QT and Maya on here or the Fear&.

I signed up for Fear&-patreon to get the additional content in the bonus episodes, I probably wouldn't have if you were not on the show QT 👍 I can be kinda hard to follow the conversation on that podcast sometimes though, because the topics seem to jump around a lot instead of talking about one topic until you are done and then starting a new one. That's probably mostly down to your inter-personal dynamic though.

i am so incredibly sorry that you experienced such extreme trauma. i also struggle with the idea of forgiveness. the therapy forgiveness usually means forgiveness in terms of letting go of the burden after processing it -- whatever that means for each person. but that is forgiveness for your own benefit and not a forgiveness for their benefit. forgiveness for their benefit is so difficult but one thing that i concede religion got right in this context is the requirement of repentance in order to be forgiven. if the person is still hurting people or hurting you habitually, what is there to forgive? yeeees, i 100% agree that people mean different things when using the word *hate*. i default to the most extreme definition just because its the worst case interpretation/inference by other people (a problematic process where i am catering to the worst case. idk life is so hard man). so in my definition, i dont hate anyone. and what i really mean is that i subscribe to the idea of loving all beings unconditionally -- if only as a logical decision because drawing those kinds of lines are otherwise arbitrary but also by a sense of compassion. and so assuming that i do love all, i do not hate any. hate in the sense that if i could remake the universe and change things, i would never want anyone to needlessly suffer. but rehabilitation to correct harmful behaviour can require self induced suffering. i think people think that im soft on crime. not at all. im supportive of fixing problems and that never prioritizes systematic vengeance -- which is what our current justice system is. for letting things go, in my life ive had some awful awful experiences. i wont compare them with anyone elses experiences and claim its worse. but i do have traumatic experiences. for the most part my *letting go* is by letting go of the endless dwelling in the pain of the past. and instead i repurpose that energy towards a greater form of justice which is trying to contribute to the solutions so others dont have to have those experiences. its a problem i have with the current justice system. have i talked about this before? i never hear about the justice system providing more than just money - if that - to make those that are harmed nearer to whole (of course this is not always possible, especially if a life was taken or irreversible harm was done). i never hear about the system appropriating any research or funding to implement solutions to pragmatically reduce the incidences of offenses. and worst of all, we send people to prison - sometimes innocent but sometimes not - harrass them, rape them, beat them, even kill them. if they make it out of these "correction" facilities, theyre not rehabilitated. theyre just even more fucked up and probably extremely pissed off. the system is backwards. its not protecting women. like where the fuck is the robust system for women to go to for reporting sexual crimes that are not run or influenced by men? current police departments can and do refuse to process rape kits. and absolutely monstrous injustice. women need to be able to go somewhere where they can trust the people there. idk if women only organizations would work but we need something because what we have now is not working.

omg i’ve never related more to maya’s segment on forgiveness! I hateeee how so many people and TikTok “therapists” portray not forgiving someone as a lack of emotional maturity or as you holding in some sort of anger/resentment but in reality, a lot of us just think logically, why would I forgive someone who hasn’t asked for an apology? like what? i will never understand that concept lol it might work for most people but fake forgiving someone, for us, doesn’t do absolutely anything and they need to accept that and find other ways to help their therapy patients instead of forcing us into this weird one-size-fits-all you-need-to-forgive “solution”

my theory is she might sort new to old. that’s usually the only way I see hate comments because otherwise they get downvoted. sometimes you’ll find a random incel in the replies of a top comment though. she sees good comments too I’m sure but the bad ones have more of an impact because they validate your self-doubt.

omg i totally get why the energy vampire comment hits so hard. ive had a similar thing said to me that i am just depressing to be around, i dont do anything but i just radiate depressing vibes and i have never been able to get over this comment it makes me feel awful. like why would you say that, and say it like theres nothing i can do to change it, its just fundamentally who i am, depressing to be around. it sucks. why tf do people make comments like that. i think that now i may be an actual vibe killer coz i speak seriously and often go on rants about social issues and impacts because im autistic and this is something im passionate about and find interesting and to be helpful knowledge to pass on but i think sometimes it comes off as just a lecture or i come off as a know-it-all and annoying even though i am just happy and excited about a topic, sadly that can be a buzzkill to others. I'm just at the beginning of the episode and I know QT probably doesn't read these comments but I did want to say this: I'm sure you know... but there's so much people that love QT being on Fear& that just won't comment because they're satisfied with the pod. I exclusively BEGAN listening regularly SPECIFICALLY because QT (and Austin just on a tiny lesser scale) started being regulars. The negative comments are usually a vocal minority. Not that I don't super enjoy Hasan and Will, it's just you're that good on pods QT, even when tired or whatever you add something special and I hope you've noticed just how many people have expressed similar feelings/thougths regarding this (this being how the podcast is SO much better now that you're an official part of it)

Jo Koy bombed for sure.. But to think people didn't like Ricky Jervais' monologues? They're like, renowned. I mostly listen to podcasts when I’m out walking my dog and lemme tell ya, “peak” QT (and, to be fair, Austin) is almost always responsible for the times I let out goofy ass audible laughs that make me wonder if anyone saw me and are wondering wtf I find so funny. the main problem with the golden globes is that it’s the only award show that the actors/actresses are sitting in the audience getting absolutely hammered! so once the first bad joke doesn’t hit, everyone gets a bad taste in their mouth and it goes downhill from there! the host needs to be prepared for that and maybe not immediately blame the writers and cry about only having 10 DAYS to write a good monologue 🫠

To say no one knows who Jo Koy is pretty wild. I don’t understand how QT can give Ricky Gervais a pass for his “bad” monologue because of the writers and in the same breath say that bad writers is no excuse for Jo Koy. Jo didn’t know he was hosting until 10 before the show. I agree the Barbie joke was distasteful but I believe the reason QT hated the monologue is because the Taylor Swift jab struck a nerve.

Not to armchair psychoanalyze people I don't know, but I feel like it's more noticeable when QT isn't feeling herself (based on her literally stating it and her spacing out/disassociating) and I've never felt that she kills any kind of vibes. I’m someone who only started watching Fear& because QT is on it, I was a Wine About It fan first and it will likely always be what I prefer. No hate to the guys of course - different strokes for different folks and all that! I loved Fear& this week personally - loved the mash of everyone’s humour and personality and QT asking about kaya’s p*ssy and stuff made me laugh so much. Also, the golden globes seems to have not gone over well with most people lol and it was good I guess that the award attendees weren’t laughing for the sake of the show or whatever. Seeing celebs physically cringe or say nope to some ‘jokes’ was nice for a change I guess but idk maybe its always like that. I’ve never really watched the golden globes tbh - i just see clips online usually each year. QT is right though, Ricky Gervais is hated on a lot and the most recognisable name when it comes to that. I personally do not think the guy is funny at all just to be clear I think he is transphobic, ableist, classist, racist, xenophobic, anti-homeless people etc etc but it is very true that he is successful still to this day. He won’t get ‘cancelled’ as people love him, whereas the guy that hosted the show won’t even be remembered next week.

I have read all of Spice and Wolf. It has nothing sexual about it. It is a manga about trade economics in olden time with a merchant who finds a wolf god among some wheat he bartered for and she wishes to return home to the north. There is an anime but it is currently incomplete.

Very late on this either QT is misremembering Ricky's monologue which I've heard nothing but good things for knocking down the absurdity that is the Golden Gloves, I mean he was brought back a few times. But my god is his new standup bad and offensive without the humour

It’s crazy that people would be so negative towards that fear & episode QT is referencing because that’s my favorite episode and I’ve gone back to listen to it countless times. I’ll often put it on when I have a headache or am laying in bed with cramps and I want something to distract myself. I’ve listened to it and the patreon ep at least 2 dozen times
