ty_next

omg live wine about it, like the good old days

Jeppe Oliver Danielsen

Hope we get some cute vlog footage, maybe even a Dine About It?

Quercus

Glad I deleted TikTok back in 2021 lol

Seth Hastings

Same. As a guy who was molested as a child, there are few things that can disturb my peace more than that kind of discussion. Not that I hate people for their ignorance, its just not a comfy feeling, to put it mildly, and one that sticks around.

Seth Hastings

Secret life of Trees is a great book. It's pretty easy to read for the technical depth.

mich

sycamore row by john grisham is a great book. while they were talking about stephen king this just popped into my head. i highly recommend it to anyone

Arsen Carangelo

i would 100% but wine about it break up with him merch

Eris

I don't know which book specifically Maya's referencing at like 46 minutes in, but that's really unfortunately really common for a lot of Stephen King's books, especially like his 1970s-mid 80s books when he was at the height of his drug problem (iirc). So it was probably one of his.

Joey

Lawyers aren't known for their humanity for a good reason

Attabui

Maya!! If you want an accessible science book on communication, I highly suggest "An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us" By Ed Yong. It's very well written for laymen and it's really interesting

Joey

Maya and her "it's a small world" small talk is too funny

Mikey

The Stephen king novel maya talked about is the outsider I’m pretty sure

sedael

i dont think maya particularly likes mormonism lmao (the eye twitch was amazing)

Nadia

you can change when shops open in animal crossing but it doesn’t come available until later !! I don’t know exactly when because it has been a second, but it might be after you reach 3 stars.

Yupooman

I forgot what my patriarchal blessing said, I just didn't want to take it seriously.

KT

I think she's read it already, she showed the book on stream one time :) I bought it because of her but haven't read it yet, glad to hear another endorsement!

Nickyux3003

"your what?" lmao

Greg Chuggs

LA culture seems to be way too focused on looks. Idk why anybody needs a score for their skin. That seems like it does more harm (mentally) and than good.

BS

Hankok has it made. They came up with their own scoring system to prey on women's insecurities to get them to spend thousands on months of treatments. I really want to know if someone's score went down or didn't move at all by the end. Or if this made upscore magically goes up for everyone to show that their treatments actually work! Of course the man's score is super high because he'd be less likely to spend months in facial treatments.

conway1308

A podcast of nothing for no one 😂😂 I love being no one!

Axolotl_Pines

The secret life of trees is a sick book, but I read it for uni so idk if its a great for a book club, but ive never been in a book club dont know the rules

Drew

I'm reading a book called "the light eaters" its about plants and goes into similar topics of "the secret life of trees" its a lot more in depth on plants in general but it's a but more appropriate for a book club imo

katana

Are we just pretending that maya is old?

Alanna M

Well damn, glad I don't use tiktok ig

David

Same goes for all apps like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook that they all have these effects with prolonged use. It’s just that TikTok is the biggest platform currently and is trying to be taken down since it’s not owned by Americas or something to that regard. Either way all we can do is use any of these platforms limited as they all cause these bad effects with prolonged use, especially since they’re All attempting to implement TikTok stuff like YouTube slides and etc.

Olivier Barbeau

Some Desperste Glory has some of the worst opening chapters of any book I've ever read(it does get better though), so I'm really curious to hear everyone's opinions. Would not be surprised if at least one person DNFs it.

Ridorana12

I don't use tiktok but I enjoy youtube shorts. It's usually watch a variety of things like crafting, creating and other misc. things. I can't be bothered to watch them too long b/c it gets boring after like 5-10 minutes. idk if even that's a bad thing to get bored by short-form content

Arrowni

"If I made eye contact with them and it was inescapable", I never get tired of Maya being real

soloPFL

Wasn't the whole point for Maya to gain weight for a while? So it's tachnically a compliment. LUL

Paige M.

Perhaps off topic but I just started playing Detroit: Become Human and Alice from that game looks sort of like Maya.

Lizzy

If the brothers really were sexually abused I don’t blame them for killing their parents. I’m not saying it’s right at all, but ya

Dale Neu

The book maya was talking about from Stephen King was "The Outsider" it was pretty good but that opening part was out of pocket. The Shining is a great book recommendation for your book club though.

Shelby

I ended up liking Some Desperate Glory. My library only had the audio book and I was a little nervous since it was 16 hours long but the person who read it did a really good job. I’m already into fiction and sci-fi stuff so I might have a bias. But normally I like reading historical fiction or mystery.

ubiiiiiiiiiiiii

choice feminism isn't real and it's holding my people back... if a woman does something that benefits the patriarchy that isn't feminism, you can't have both...

Daddywarbucks

I think maybe killing your rapist shouldn't be considered a worse crime than raping someone for decades. hot take

kron

lol when Maya said "The Secret Life of Trees" I think she meant "The Hidden Life of Trees" but I mistook it for "The Secret Life of PLANTS" which is a plant sentience book that says plants can actually think and feel. When I was a kid my camp counselor would always talk about that book and said it was all real, and when I got home from camp I looked it up and confirmed it was bs loooool

Daddywarbucks

As a man who is married and splits bills evenly with my spouse, I would LOVE if she made $150k a year and let me take care of the house all day. The house NEEDS taken care of but we're both too tired and burnt out to do anything beyond the bare minimum. Having a stay at home partner isn't bad, its all the other shit in our world that makes it a problem. But pressuring anyone to be any kind of way based on gender/sexuality/race/etc. is gross and fuck the church for teaching that

Keaira hardge

Y’all should read Holly by Stephen King

Darren Hertenstein

Not exactly surprising that the Prosecutor from the Menendez brothers trial went full boomer.

Macarena Espinosa

Disney Dreamlight Valley is like Animal Crossing but with disney characters as neighbors and doesn't have the daytime limitations, 100% recomend

Sophie

I also really hate the Diddy party jokes. People are way too desensitized to horrible things

Mandy Groening

Someone tell Maya you can change the setting for Animal Crossing so they're up later or earlier(depending when you play) it was changed sometime last year thankfully! You can change it by talking with Isabelle :)

xoxo_gems

While I agree that the trad-wife trend is dangerous, especially to young girls watching who think that depending on a man for everything is the way to go/live, people fail to realize that these women on TikTok are not trad wives. They have jobs. Nara is a full time model. These other women are full time content creators. Having a job kinda cancels out the whole trad wife thing lol Them using the content as a pathway if you will to Mormonism is a whole other can of worms lmfao
