Joker Battle Armor design process (Patreon)

designing themed outfits and armor is one of my favorite parts of the process, so I wanted to share some sketches! How I do outfits is a gather a bunch of inspiration, then just go to town on the shapes and details, with notes on motifs and symbolism here and there.

The Jokers are based on the Live Flowers, and they’re all named after poisonous flowers, so I wanted these costumes to reflect that. Drawn from past oneironaut designs but with heavy flower and petal motifs. Not only that, but since they’re the Alpha Team, these costumes are specialized.

Azalea: the leader, specializes in fencing. Daffodil: heavy hitter, more padding than the others. Hyacinth: Precision, streamlined with focus on her legs. Ivy: the tech expert, more of a sniper position, carries the supplies.
