Did not anticipate Zuff's theater kid era lol. As a theater kid myself and someone who still works in production when I can, this movie is such a comfort. I'm a few years older than you guys so I remember the one from 2003 called Camp. It has Stephen Sondheim in it and if you don't know who that is he's like the musical theater god.

Yeah as a former theater kid I LOVED this movie!!! I feel like it was made for us so I totally get what you guys were saying about it being a little niche. When you grow up in that world, you’ve met an Amos and a Rebecca-Diane, and idk I had a little more love for those characters than y’all — sometimes theater kids we’re over the top and ridiculous, but you become friends w everyone so the quirks aren’t as annoying as I’m sure they come off 😂 everyone is so unapologetically *them*, and like Amos said when he was talking to Troy — “this is a place for all of us who don’t fit in”. So idk I just felt connected to them — my friends and I taught younger kids when I was in high school, so some of it was extra relatable. It was so fun to watch them lean into stereotypical characters, and really play up the “extra” that is theater. Like if you’ve been in a class, the Rebecca-Diane/Amos section where they’re teaching is SO real 😭 and so is the audition section where it’s ALL over the place, and then some random kid sings a non-show tune. Just chaos and this one’s def in the books for me. “Camp Isn’t Home” hit hard! Community theater really was my home growing up so I love how they wrapped it up. Anyway, glad y’all watched! 🫶🏼

Same @Meg. I remember when I discovered theater, it was home and I felt so seen. Show biz people are a different breed and musical theater is corny so it was funny seeing them cringe at stuff like that. Theater has saved so many people's lives. I grew up in Arkansas but moved to NYC in adulthood. Growing up in a small conservative state, theater was home for so many queer kids, artists, and outcasts. Anyway, I figured it would be niche for them. It's not really a LOL comedy for a more general audience. It's like a "haha been there" for those of us part of this world.
