Well. I love the political episodes because the media does influence public opinion. The actor for Mencken is so charming but I'd hate him IRL because he's a fascist. Both Roman and Shiv wanted to gain from this, Roman wanted attention from their dad, and Shiv wanted to find another path to CEO but politically Shiv is a Democrat. Matthew Macfadyen is such a great actor, I see why he won an Emmy for this season.

Mencken is played by Justin Kirk. AKA Uncle Andy Botwin on Weeds 😂

Yeah Mencken is Andy Botwin from Weeds. A legend!

This episode is so underrated imo, the scenes in the diner are top-notch. The whole cast kills it, but I agree Matthew MacFadyen’s acting stood out not only in this episode but in the season as a whole, truly a phenomenal actor

-Give Matthew Mcfayden all the awards. -The vibes between Roman and Mencken are crazyyyy. To quote the AVclub review of this episode, "What does matter is how quickly Mencken and Roman vibe, and I’ll be honest: It was too sexual! … Has Roman ever been as flirtatious, coy, and coquettish as when he was talking to Mencken?" I think the fact that he's awful and blunt about it is a lot of his allure there. Would despise any of these characters as real people. Still, there's something interesting about showing the smarmy, deep-red 4Chan face with the hypocrisy and spinelessness to *also* be that homoerotic behind closed doors. A lot of Succession lives in subtext and subtle continuity, and I think that encounter made that all the more apparent. -I so appreciate that you continue to see through the facade of self-righteousness both Shiv and Ken love to put up. Literally, all of them are terrible people. They are the rot they were created to be. And I have a hard time believing in any of them getting better so long as they continue to bullshit over their scraps of humanity and self-interest. Ngl, also very over Kendall at the moment, though strongly suspect his mental health is part and parcel to the problem (really think that man is bipolar tbh- he is all highs and lows). -If y'all thought this episode was cringe-- hoooo boy, buckle up for the next.

I think you guys should react to the tv show Billions - from showtime, it’s perfect to replace succession
