pls keep in mind that the way anne handles her emotions and problems is because of the copious amount of trauma shes endured in the few years shes lived thus far in the series and is also, more likely than not, autistic. i feel like sometimes u guys view anne as dramatic and as zuff said, "having tantrums", when in reality her reactions are pretty normal for someone with so much trauma and sometimes, her breakdowns are extremely reflective of autistic meltdowns. i think that this is just a little bit of insight that makes her character more understandable, and not so "crazy"; she's just a kid whos endured so much, and has become a big character for autistic people as well as matthew :) <3

i mean this w/ all the love in the world and no disrespect, i just wish other people could view some of these characters more so as their positive attributes, like how courageous and perseverant anne is, rather than the traits that make her "annoying" or "childish"

thank you for saying this! i honestly lowkey got a little upset when during the episode of her (what was clearly dissociating due to trauma, in my eyes) forgetting the oven/stove zuff said he was getting angry at her. he said "she can play later." she was dissociating, not playing. i can understand the confusion, but i hope this comment will be a reminder to them of the things she has gone through. she's endured so, so much like you said. i can't even imagine. like to face the things she's faced, to be probably autistic during this time period. she has no access to any mental health care. she's handling everything entirely on her own. me over here as a grown ass adult can't do that without support and guidance. much less a child completely on her own. she's so very brave. the fact that she can still see the world through a lens of beauty and wonder is a remarkably strong and courageous thing. i've seen other reactors write her off as being annoying and that breaks my heart for the character that is anne shirely. i hope this will be a reminder to go into this show and the story of anne with grace and understanding for her and the horrific things she has been through.

"It's none of your business!!!" gives the exact same energy of that one housewives clip "That's my OPINION!!!"

i love this show aaaahhhh <3

I think why Anne was so worried about her relationship with Matthew is because love in her life up til Green Gables was always conditional and taken away whenever people didn't want to give it anymore. I think Anne is just starting to learn what unconditional love is like which is why this episode is really important for her and her relationships.

The way Zuff was able to predict the baby and Gilbert delivering said baby, and Bryce and Rob, were like no way, not to mention the zoom in on Bryce and Rob just makes me laugh. Also the fourth girl is Jane Andrews, Prissy and Billy's sister.

While she could be read as having many of these things, I think its very important to keep in mind that this is their first time watching Anne With An E, and we had asked them to react to this for their honest opinions on it, I dont think its fair to censor how they feel about a certain character, and i certainly wouldnt want it either. Its not explicit that Anne is autistic (I have never read it that way(but obviously art is subjective)). It is fair to admit that Anne can be interpreted as annoying and often cringe - personally I love this show and I still cant watch some scenes back because of second hand embarrassment. This show is obviously not targeted towards them, so i think it was definitely expected they wouldnt react to it in a conventional way, but thats actually one of the reasons I love their reactions as they dont take it too seriously and can laugh about it which is amusing and fun.

i think with a level of film and reading comprehension and any knowledge on general mental health, it is very evident that anne is neurodivergent as well as having ptsd. the show reveals her dissociation (as emily mentioned) alongside flashbacks which are symptoms of ptsd. how she interacts with people, her cadence in how she speaks, her perception of others and herself, amongst other things are autistic traits that many autistic individuals relate to and thus, anne has become a big character for autistic people both growing up and as adults. i agree seeing an unbiased, unfiltered perspective from new viewers is entertaining and i wouldn't want them to feed into any warped perception; however, i think it is important to understand the intricacies of anne and her story as it offers a deeper sense of reality within the awae universe and a better perspective on how anne behaves the way she does. if they completely disregard her trauma and instead label her as "crazy", they are diminishing her past and the pieces that makes anne "human". there's a big difference between comprehensive study of film and literature and casual viewing, but i feel like the guys like to understand the characters and stories they watch, and i hope not only myself but as well as others explaining certain pieces offers that sort of understanding rather than viewing the series at a surface level

Yes definitely honing into annes psychology grounds the tv show, and its an important part of the show (her trauma) so it being misunderstood would be detrimental to understanding anne as a character and how she functions, but it hasnt been fully explored at this point (2x4), the effects of her trauma are much more plain to see in season 3 (without giving anything away). This show as a whole is very whimsical, light hearted and quite eccentric - the way in which anne speaks is very unconventional and funny and how she over steps boundaries is painful to see as a first time watcher, but overtime with more understanding of why she is the way she is I think it'll all start to connect a little bit.

i get wanting an honest reaction. i do. but i think there's a difference in saying "don't react this way" and providing feedback in the community setting here, giving them background info and context so their reaction can be more nuanced. for many autistic girls, it's clear anne is autistic. but at the very least if not autistic, she's some flavor of neurodivergent along with having PTSD. we saw the disoscciation. we see the PTSD flashbacks of the physical and mental cruelty she endured. we've seen all this up to til this episode. for example, in the k-dramas, there's some cultural nuance needed to understand why characters behave certain ways, or why things are done certain ways. take the age thing for example. for many non-koreans, we don't understand how respected age is in the korean culture. honorifics and younger people always answering to the older might be something confusing. but people leave comments and explain the context so the confusion is cleared up and they go into the next episode with more understanding. same with bridgerton. they didn't really know about regency era customs and societal expectations. little things in bridgerton that felt like not a big deal to us from a modern lens were huge issues that could damage entire families. people would leave comments (me included lol) giving some background so that they had more understanding to the characters and the stakes at play. us saying "hey, i know anne can be a lot but try to remember the context and show her some grace" isn't trying to censor their reaction. it's just trying to provide context so her character is better understood. also...as an autistic girlie, i'm not going to lie; it does suck when a reactor you enjoy labels a characters traits that you KNOW she can't help/control and that you relate to as her "being bad" or "being annoying" or "having a tantrum." i'm just going to put it bluntly. i love reel-time and their reactions but i need to say that. it bothers me when anyone writes off a neurodivergent character as being bad or annoying. rather it's intentional or not. BUT...i also know from watching these guys as long as i have that they are good and kind and genuine people and that they don't mean anything bad or offensive in their comments. they just might not understand fully why certain things are certain things. so i try to explain to the best of my ability in the comments the context; not only for the show but for them to have a bit more nuance and understanding for how people like anne might be navigating this world. that's my intent when explaining. i don't want them to censor themselves or change how they react; i just want to provide some context so there can be more understanding. i don't believe i've spoiiled anything in doing so. everything i've mentioned is stuff we've seen up until this point. and i'm not trying to bring down the guys or make them try to censor themselves or change their reactions, that's not my intent at all and i hope this comment clears that up a bit.

Ok I totally get and understand you, thanks for explaining x

emily omg i always love seeing ur comments and replies u always articulate things so beautifully and i always share the same thoughts and concerns ur slaying fr

Lydia

i agree with immort whatever cuz not everyone knows abt autistic traits and struggles and it's their raw honest reaction like u said which makes it more entertaining
