that scene of them walking away from the crowd at the end while bill clinton speaks on the tv is SO well done. i always get teary eyed😭😭😭 and orla jumping into james’ arms was so precious

my favorite episode, hands down. when orla jumps into james' arms....i love their bond so much and how it's depicted. wish more shows would go for that platonic bond between guys and girls more often.

also i LOVE michelle's speech to james. like she'll be tough on him and mess around with him, but when it comes to the possibility of him getting hurt, she couldn't stand it. it took a ton of maturity and love for her to confront him and warn him about the person his mother is and i really love that we got to see that side of her. she's one of my favorites she can act all tough but she definitely has a soft side to her and you see that shine in this episode. i also love how downtrodden the girls all were after james left. you could tell it broke their hearts that he was gone and that they genuinely love him and that he really is a part of their group. this show does a friendship unit so, so well

I'm a sucker for the historical news footage throughout the show, it gives it an air of authenticity. And I loved the way that they managed to include the Clinton speech by panning to a television rather than trying to make it tiny in the distance or have an actor do it. And "Stop listing presidents Colm!" might be one of the funniest lines in the series for me. And of course, that scene with Michelle and James is a wonderful little dramatic moment that shows so much about Michelle, in particular.

I always think it’s so clever how they don’t try to put a stand in for Clinton, and pull away to the actual footage. And I get so choked up at Michelle being vulnerable with James and of course “I! Am! A Derry Girl!” 😭

I’m so happy he comes back!

the ending of this episode is my favorite moment of the entire show. i almost wish they had kept it for the series finale, it feels like the perfect and best scene to end the series on, even though i never want it to end.

I just finished watching season 3 the other day and I agree. While I do think the actual series finale was done well, this season 2 finale felt like it could've been the series finale. I'm not sure whether the showrunners were worried about being canceled, though who could blame them given Netflix's track record? But yeah, it's probably my favorite moment of the entire series as well!
