The faucet scene! I cry every time! 🥺❤️❤️

I love this show and it's my third time watching it. So nostalgic and just beautiful. IMF was such a huge crisis and it broke so many families. My parents divorced during this time as well for similiar reasons. They couldn't get back together until 2004 which was the first time I saw my dad again. Loving your reactions to this show so far <3

Ashley K

I just noticed Yijin's dad is Dongeun's bad teacher from The Glory lol

Mona ♡

The scenarios y’all come up with crack me up. “She cracks her head and he accidentally kills her” lol

Mona ♡

Also is it weird I keep comparing the storyline to WFKBJ? Like Yu-Rim being the angsty side girl, Hee-Do being the bubbly main lead, Ye-Jin having Yu-Rin for an ex and crushing on Hee-Do. Lol idk maybe cuz it’s a sports Kdrama and has our main boy haha

Preparing dinner now! To watch yalls reactions! Love this show

i love the ending scene of this episode so much. the cinematography, dialogue and music, it just hits.

Guys, the old man wasn’t over dramatic. He was distraught. The financial crisis is real and it was BAD. It destroyed families. Obviously doesn’t make it Yijin’s fault and deep down he probably knows that but he’s just desperate and yeah, too distraught to be logical.

Gingy

Only yurim is not actually his ex. Yijin’s family sponsored yuri, so they’re close.

madi

that poem at the end gets me everytime😭

sophie

I think you guys misunderstood yijin’s and yurim’s relationship. when he went to go see her mother he said that he was sorry yurim had to lose her sponsor (his dad/ dad’s company). so that’s their families’ relationship to each other. yurim was upset and hurt because he disappeared after his family went bankrupt, and also because she had relied on him a lot emotionally and felt hurt they he didn’t feel comfortable to do the same about his family situation. they were never actually in a romantic relationship

sophie

I’m glad you guys are really enjoying it so far! this was honestly one of my top shows of last year: I mean the writing, the acting, the artistic direction of the show. can’t wait for you guys to love them more ❤️❤️

blue

This!! Hearing that man’s cry breaks my heart you can tell he’s really desperate and doesn’t know what to do. Most likely has family members of his own who depend on him. It doesn’t make what he’s doing to yijin right but it’s a realistic depiction of how helpless a lot of people felt at the time… i get it

Shafaq

lmfaoo zuff roasting bryce about not being able to beat any nba player

Shafaq

same omg they come out of nowhere but honestly they just say out loud what some of us be thinking lmaoo

Love this show, it makes me feel so nostalgic, excited to see you watch it

Gingy

Yeah and they couldn’t find his dad. At the brink of his family falling apart, finding anyone who knows the dad to beg for information on the dad is what normal people would do. As a viewer, we know yijin is just as helpless and doesn’t know where his family is and even misses them but the old man doesn’t know. For all he know, yijin may know where his father is or hiding him to not pay the old man.

my parents watched this show (my mother pretty much only watches kdramas now) and i saw snippets of it here and there with them. however, i am watching this in full for the first time with you guys. i already knew the actress from The Handmaiden, my favorite movie of all time (watched it at least 5 times - big recommend), and ofc i know the male lead actor as well, but they're such a great pair. the cinematography in this show is stunning, i feel like crying just when i see how beautiful the shots are.

the songs in this drama is soooooooo good I almost cried when I heard (twenty five, twenty one) at the end I love this song's lyrics and story

Get ready to have a whole existential crisis. This show….

coming back to comment: hee-do just has a special ability to share her feelings with people. her joy is so contagious. and even though yi-jin probably didn't like make shift fountains too much at first, he looked at her and realized how happy she was just watching the faucet rain water. and like bryce said, yi-jin misses the simple things. i really love the scene sm. its SO beautiful and you can't help but feel everything hee-do and yi-jin feels in that moment. hee-do's talent in sharing her happiness goes through the screen too :')

thaitea

I haven't caught up on reactions yet but I hope its been cleared up that Yurim and Yijin never had a thing or were a couple, they were very close friends and he considers her like a little sister.

Snax

not sure where this fits in the timeline of shows watched, but i do find it interesting how the consensus is for the main leads to get together even though one is in high school, a junior at that, but for some reason in itaewon class everyone was against it even though the female lead was not only a senior and 18, but they didn't even start having a relationship until she was in her 20s. was it because the storyline was harsher and there wasn't a lot of 'cutesy' interaction? do people really just prefer a love story that's all rainbows and sunshine?
