Hello everyone, it is time to vote for our next movie!!! This week you guys voted for fantasy (first time winner) and suggested sooooo many great movies. We hope you all like the ones we selected, and we cannot wait to see what wins!!!

Comments

lilly

if people really don’t want enchanted, just change your vote to bridge to terabithia. simple as that. no need to bash people and complain in the comments

Briana J

People should vote for what they want to watch to show interest. Some people don't want to watch Bridge to Terabithia either.

sarah

i am so scared to see what the comments look like when enchanted wins 😭

emily ღ

oh i think lots would be pretty upset. to me, it'd show that anything could win any poll regardless of what genre was asked for and that's a pretty disappointing feeling, not gonna lie. they either need to stop asking for specific genres and just let people name random movies or do polls of more variety so certain things don't get lumped in places they don't really fit if that makes sense

Mimi M

I don't think it's about not liking enchanted, I love that movie. it's just not fantasy. like if the war genre won the poll the movie that would win would be like Atonement instead of saving private Ryan.

emily ღ

mimi perceisely!!! i used a similar metaphor in a comment above. that's what people are disappointed by, not enchanted as a whole but that this shows any movie can win any poll regardless of them asking for a specific genre

Mimi M

I think if the guys want to take a break from romance, like this week, they should maybe not include suggestions that don't fit the genre in the poll. I don't really blame people for voting for their favorite movie, I would do the same. I don't blame the guys either cause maybe they don't really know that enchanted is a romance film. If enchanted wins, I will still enjoy the reaction. but for next time maybe the guys can filter out the movies that don't really fit the genre?

emily ღ

exactly!! or do something like where we can just go ham and name any movie without a genre limit; or also include more variety. like a poll for disney, a poll for kids movies, a poll for animation, etc

Ashley K

I agree with a lot of these comments. I've sent them a message before which I'm not sure if they read or not, about taking suggestions, look into some of the titles they're unfamiliar with and choose the ones they are interested in and have us vote on them- b/c they're *suggestions* after all. I feel them choosing what interests them more, rather than always watching what interests the majority of their patrons would also help prevent some rude comments in every poll (especially the k-drama polls, I've seen some really passive aggressive and insulting ones). I really don't like to trash other people's suggestions and movies/shows but since I joined their patreon just a few months ago I can't help but feel things are getting a bit out of hand with some of the type of stuff we watch. It's like we have no other option now but to watch romance or whatever is targeted for the young girl audience. I think we need a lot more specific categories in the genre polls and despite the boys trying their best at being accommodating, they should take some more control of what we watch or else nothing will change on here.

Mona ♡

Definitely agree. It’s interesting cuz I’ve joined other reactors patreons before and they chose whatever they watched and only put out polls based off their own interests (unless it was a popular show like Squid Games etc). Reel-Time is on the other end of the spectrum where they are extremely accommodating and allow their viewers to pretty much control nearly all the content they post. So yeah, maybe some middle ground is needed but I definitely appreciate what they do.

emily ღ

it would also prevent another p&p incident lmao where they have more control and we can have control over the final pick. that way things are more fair and balanced than just a free for all. they can pick a few that interests them from our suggestions, and then we vote from that. maybe.

Xio’♡

Honestly I just feel bad every time the comments section gets like this. I understand everyone’s stance on the romance genre but I feel like Reel Time has been trying their best to accommodate everyone. Even with the Kdramas they’re doing a serious one and a romance to make sure everyone’s happy. For Movie week they watched movies that they wanted and when it’s their week to choose a movie they always try to base it off of the movies we suggest that never win so everyone gets a chance to see their fav reacted to. It’s sad to see these comments saying that Reel Time should not have included Enchanted and that they’re catering to the romance fans by doing this when they probably didn’t even know what it’s about. They’re just going based off what’s suggested the most, trying to be fair.

Alana

Yea it makes me sad. The boys are trying so hard and the comments are just straight complaints

emily ღ

if we are paying for this patreon as members then we have a right to state when something can be done better or when there is an issue. ive been a member here for quite awhile. ive been on patreon supporting content creators for years. patreon members have a right to express their opinions when they aren't pleased with a service or take issue with certain things. look at these comments. take the time to genuinely read them. people are very rightfully upset. no one is being rude or lashing out at the guys. we simply want our critiques to be heard and not just dismissed. this isn't complaining for the sake of complaing here, this stating an issue that is upsetting to a lot of us here. and that's valid of us to state that. there are currently as i type this 140 comments, the majority of which are displeased. that's not just a few of us being complainers. that is a lot of unhappy patreons that feel unheard and want our voices listened to as well. and it's okay for us to state as much. no one is trying to hurt or upset the guys. we are just giving feedback for a service they provide

Mimi M

In my comment I even said that, they probably don’t know that enchanted is a romance film. We know the guys are trying to diversify the movie selection and we appreciate the effort. I was just suggesting that maybe they can see what genre the movie falls under before putting it on a poll so we don’t have this problem of a romance film dominating a fantasy genre. I don’t think the comments are being rude. Just trying to find a solution that will led to a more diverse genre selection. Like I said I am happy watching enchanted lol it’s not that serious to me.

Xio’♡

Hi, I’m not sure how you interpreted my comment or why you seem to think I’m invalidating everyone’s opinion but I’m not. If you take the time to really read my comment you’ll see that I said I understood where everyone was coming from. The purpose of my comment was not to dismiss others but rather to show my empathy for the boys. I’ve noticed the attempts that they’ve done to try to neutralize this situation and it’s disheartening that despite those efforts the problem is not resolved, people are saying they cater to romance when it’s all decided by poll not them and people are unhappy. It must be stressful for them and I feel bad about it. That was all.

Ashley K

Agree with Emily and Mimi. These are not complaints to the boys, we're simply giving input on how we think it will be more fair to *everyone*. It's not that we don't appreciate them for their hard work and the amount of accommodation they give to their patrons, because I certainly very much do and enjoy watching with them. I just think they shouldn't be afraid to take more control of how and what content they select- for example, picking the correct titles that falls under the correct category by actually looking into the titles and know what they are, rather than going with what's suggested the most. This poll for instance, I see only two true fantasy genre movies. The others have fantasy elements but they're not considered a fantasy genre. Fantasy and fairy tale are two different genres. Also when I commented that they should do more of the content picking and we vote on the final pick, this would be the best way to find a middle ground to make everyone happy I think because regardless, people would enjoy watching their selection since we're here to watch THEM and their reactions. At least I am.

Dawn

Need more horror like dead silence the exorcism of Emily rose.

emily ღ

ashely, for real!!! they are one of the most accommodating patreons/content creators in the game!! one of the reasons i'm here is because i could tell from their YT videos how thoughtful they were and wanted to give my support. the guys themselves are kind work so very hard to give us content. it's very, VERY appreciated. none of my critiques are to say i don't appreciate them. in fact, i'm giving critiques because i do appreciate them. i don't want people to feel badly here or be disappointed here. i get not every one's faves can win every poll or suggestion. but there's been a massive discrepancy lately these last weeks, maybe months. i want to give them that feedback as well as suggestions. if i just didn't give a flip about this patreon, i'd just peace out. but i do care and i do want to bring a few things to their attention because i don't want this patreon to feel unwelcoming or anything for anyone. but there has been a discrepency and that needs to be discussed. also i want to add for whomever needs to hear this: i think something may have gotten lost in translation here. giving feedback is nothing personal against the guys. idk why every time someone brings something up, even if it's respectful and kind, they're met with replies about how it's making people "sad to see that" and that the guys work "so hard." i know they do and i'm thankful for them. but this rush to like come to their defense seems as if i or others have said something personally against them. that's not the case here. i completely acknowledge and appreciate their hard work and am so greatful to them. i've said before how i've had a rough go in the past and their videos were my comfort and brought me something cheerful. i'm always greatful for that. but wanting to give feedback - positive or negative, does not mean i somehow think poorly of them, their work ethic, or whatever else. i just want to be clear on that.

Alana

I totally understand you. However I will say that sometimes the comment section can seem more negative than helpful. I agree with you all that the romance genre has completely taken over this Patreon. So maybe some of us try to come up with some solutions for the boys that could possibly fix this issue

Cocalita

Listen. I voted for The Mummy. And while I do agree that I wouldn't necessarily classify Enchanted (or even Bridge to Terabithia) as fantasy, it slipped through anyway. No one wants to be preached to, but we need to be mindful of the work that goes into reaction channels. Yes, we all paid to be here, but the polls are there for a reason and you can't please everyone. I like the guys and this channel and I only watch probably 25% or less of the things they react to. Most of what they react to isn't my cup of tea and that's ok. Such is life. They really don't even react to that many romantic tv shows and movies. Sure, it feels like that when the shows you want aren't getting picked, but that just isn't the case. My choices rarely get chosen and I'm saying this as someone who is probably older than some of the folks who want more "mature" content. In the end, it's their channel and usually the whole deal is to be exposed to new shows/movies but also get more engagement. If the majority is voting for something, I see why it being viewed. I think sometimes we think they're being held hostage by the polls, but oftentimes they view content that they're interested in outside of the polls.

Indre Duobaite

I've been really invested in this discussion in the comments while the poll was open, and, personally, I didn't take any comments as negative or rude? I guess it's just a different perception, but I didn't think that stating our opinions and giving suggestions could be seen as if we don't appreciate the guys or are annoyed at them. That's not the case at all. I totally agree with what Emily, Ashley and Mimi said. It's really not that serious to actually try to blame either the viewers or the guys. No one is doing that. It's just a discussion.

Indre Duobaite

Well, how I viewed this was that they specifically tried to veer off from the romance genre for this next movie night, but a few heavily romantic movies with fantasy elements still slipped through and was winning the poll, which is fine at the end of the day. I love Enchanted, but I was just really hoping to see them react to an actual fantasy movie with not much romance since that's what they wanted, and the fantasy genre won. But it's really not that serious. We'll likely get to see them react to more fantasy movies at some point. It's not like this was the only chance to get a fantasy film

Cocalita

I agree @Indre. The way I see it, once they see us bring something up more than once they may come back later to view it on their own. They've done it before.

Mykala

At this point, I'd actually prefer if they took some of the control back as to what they'd prefer to watch. It's clear that putting everything to a vote here is resulting in the same movie in different fonts every single week. I think they should just choose at this point and hopefully that will allow them to have a more balanced variety of content. The way it is now less mainstream films and less popular genres will never win. The polls don't lie haha

Kris

damn am i the only one not upset that enchanted won? i voted for matilda but still enchanted is a great movie and i think they would enjoy it. yes i get that there have been a large amount of romance lately but that’s what wins 🤷🏽‍♀️ people like romance lol. but i mean it’s not a complete loss for the other movies on the poll. they will most likely be given a second chance in future polls cause the boys are good at paying attention to what we want and they try their best to keep us satisfied. i’m stoked for them to watch enchanted. i hope they enjoy it!

emily ღ

i think the problem isn't enchanted it's self, at least not for me, but the fact that they can ask for a specific genre and any movie of any genre can win if there's enugh votes for it. it feels almost like well what's the point of asking for a specific genre? if they asked for a romance movie or a disney or a fairy tale, then enchanted would definitely be awesome for that. but for fantasy? i feels like they were trying to branch outside of romance but enough people still chose romance and that ended up winning yet again

Kris

yea i understand that it gets frustrating and maybe they should start picking suggestions that are actually the genre they asked for. i know me personally i have trouble differentiating what movies are which genre cause i struggle with understanding the whole genre thing. so maybe it’s just an honest mistake cause they trust that we will stick to the genre that they asked for us to suggest movies for.

Mykala

It feels like this has been going on for a while. I just scrolled back through the Patreon to December to see just how often it had happened. I also noticed that in “MOVIE NIGHT #53 - GENRE POLL” Romance beat Horror, Thriller, and Animated with a whopping 45%, almost half! That is crazy and shows exactly why Romance/Romantic Comedies will always dominate if given the chance in the polls. TV Shows that won the polls involving romance (3) - Heartstopper, Normal People, Bridgerton Movies involving romance that won the polls (8) - Enchanted, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Pride and Prejudice, The Proposal, Twilight series, Love, Simon, Crazy Stupid Love, Love, Actually “Chick Flicks” Movies that won the polls (3) - Princess Diaries, Pitch Perfect, Bring It On Movies involving any other genres that won (note that no romance movies were included in these polls) (7, 4 of which are animated) - Promising Young Woman, Rush Hour, How To Train Your Dragon, Mulan, Spirited Away, Pearl, Anatasia Other Non-Romance Content shared without using polling - Movie Week Movies, Harry Potter, YOU, The Menu, Glass Onion, Wednesday (I think?) It’s easy to conclude that when given the chance to through the polls Romance/RomComs/Chick Flicks will always win. We've only had 3 live action movies that weren't those genres win the polls (Rush Hour, Pearl, Promising Young Woman) since the beginning of December vs 11 (not even counting the three tv shows). I’m sure RT is also ready for some variety if a lot of us are feeling this way. However, I believe we will keep getting more of the same unless RT takes more control back and uses the polling feature less or differently. I like a lot of these romcom/chick flick movies, but it has become repetitive and predictable. I feel like we will just continue missing out on so many amazing different movies with how the set up is now.

Mykala

I just had to go through the past few months on here to remind myself just how bad it's gotten. I left a comment below, but I'm a bit late to the game on this specific post 😂

Corey

I’m sorry but this made me chuckle. I love that you came with receipts. 🤭

Mykala

I just had to lay out the cold hard facts hahah as much as some people love to say, "they'll get around to doing it eventually", I beg to differ

Briana J

I appreciate you for doing that. I noticed it when Brigerton beat all the other shows on the list and I'm glad you pointed out how biased this Patreon is when it comes to certain genres. When people say "they'll get to it eventually" it comes off as condescending and dismissive because that is often NOT the case.

Briana J

I agree with Emily, Ashley, Indre, and Mimi... also the comments that I've seen have not been rude. People are frustrated but people are not lashing out at the guys or other commenters or even shitting on other people's taste. We recognize that romance/romcoms/"chick flicks" are very popular here and that's great for people who enjoy that but when every single movie/kdrama/live action poll starts to skew to a specific thing (along with YA/coming of age for younger audiences) that's when I would personally just like some sort of clarity on what type of film reaction channel this will be. As much as I enjoy more wholesome/lighthearted type vibes in my everyday life, I expect film reaction channels to react to a wide range of genres. I like my Notting HIlls, I'm not trying to watch people react to Notting HIll.

emily ღ

facts, the "they'll get around to it eventually" pisses me off because like for us little miss sunshine fans it's been months of it missing every single time to a rom com and i know it'll never ever win because of that

Mykala

For real haha. I have zero hope anymore for it. I'm catching up on YOU today, and Greg Kinnear comes in as a new character all of a sudden! I felt a bit sad knowing how funny the timing would've been if LMS had won over How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Aya

I’m just patiently waiting for them to do that horror show From or yellowjackets. At this point I just need something with a plot twist cause the romance stuff is so predictable its just not fun to watch week after week.

Indre Duobaite

I haven’t seen or heard much about Little Miss Sunshine before and these replies really made me want to watch it. Besides that, I totally agree with you all

emily ღ

i think derry girls would be good too! it comes in like this light hearted silly coming of age shows but then hits so hard with the portrayal of the hardships of growing up in ireland in the 90s. it's got the right balance of laugh out loud comedy and really gritty and draws attention to serious events

lilly

how does a romance film win when it wasn't even on the genre poll 🥲

Aya

Omg yes I love Derry Girls! I went into it not expecting much but it took me by surprise how much I enjoyed it. It would be so funny watching the boys react to that.

chelsea

the princess bride is one of my fav movies ever
