This is one of my favorite movies but it's ok that you didn't like it. I still love you guys. The US release had a kiss at the end and here it is. Just for you. https://youtu.be/Zg7YhN-I2M0

So sorry you didn’t like this one! It’s okay though, I totally get it. I enjoy P&P but not the ending. Plus, you have a whole round of awesome movies coming up on the schedule to welcome in the next year of reactions! I have never seen Scott Pilgrim and I can’t wait to watch it through your reactions 🙂

Watching your guys increasing disappointment with this movie and then your ending ranking just took me TF OUT! 😭

Oh nooo I just upped my pledge to watch this 😭 I don’t think I can bear it now after the comments lol. I guess how to lose a guy in 10 days would’ve been better!!! I stopped watching Bridgeton after a few episodes so I guess tastes just differ :))

LOL it's fine, the movie is overhyped in my opinion, but I hope it wasn't too painful for you guys xD Your reaction was definitely entertaining.

This is definitely the type of movie that if you would never read the book, you're not gonna like the movie. I love Jane Austen but she's definitely not for everyone. I was surprised people voted for this for you guys.

Don’t let the comments deter you. I was preparing myself for the worst, but I didn’t think it was bad in the slightest. I can totally understand why they didn’t enjoy it.

I was also really surprised that it won. Even though I’m someone who adores P&P, it certainly wasn’t my first pick for them because I also recognize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I remember it took me a while to get into the book because of the use of old English, but once I did, I was hooked. And while so many rave about the 1995 BBC miniseries, this 2005 film version is my favorite adaptation. It’s one of my go-to comfort movies.

Amy Moquin

Exactly. I suggested that if you want people (like 3 college age guys) exposed to Jane Austen, then maybe go with an adaptation like Pride, Prejudice and Zombies or Clueless (for Emma). It gives you a very basic Jane Austen storyline but with a twist.

There is a different ending to this movie where you see them post marriage

No hate to the ppl that voted P&P to win (personally my fav book and romance movie), but they set y'all up for disappointment. From your reactions on previous material, it's v obvious this would not be y'all's cup of tea. Slow burn, enemies to lovers, and old English language is not for everyone. Atleast it gives you the perspective of how other book lovers view romance in??

Veronica

Completely agree. The best part about being collaborative with them is being able to pick movies they’d actually enjoy watching for the first time, not to just for them to watch our favorite movies. It should be a recommendation for them, not a request for you. But thats just my opinion on it

This is a tricky one. I enjoy this movie but it is absolutely a very rushed version of the original book/story and so it feels incomplete and awkward sometimes. The cinematography and score are phenomenal so that always draws me in, but a much better explanation of the characters and love story comes from the 1995 miniseries. And the hard part transitioning from Bridgerton to a traditional period romance is that you completely lose the sex element/physical intimacy because it just was not acceptable in society at the time so it’s not a part of the novel. Something that would be period but closer to the drama vibe and style of Bridgerton (though still not as salacious because it’s from a different network) is Downton Abbey or Sanditon. You actually might enjoy the movie Becoming Jane which is meant to be a biography of Jane Austen. It stars Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy. Thanks for giving this one a try though! Still love the channel!

Pride and Prejudice VS Zombies is way better😂✌🏻

Murphy

A nice middle ground movie between this one and Bridgerton is "The Young Victoria" with Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend (who is Mr. Wickham in this movie).

Read the book…..seriously.
