Evilwina made me LOL 🤣

Alyssa

I’m a sucker for the slow burn and I unfortunately have to report that I eat it up every single time 🤟🏽😔

Reagan

When rob said "he looks like he's about to eat her" I literally choked bc I knew what was coming lmao

Hevin

I am honestly way too invested in your guys' reaction to this show lmao, it is just so satisfying to see men be just as obsessed as I was. I believe when season 2 was released I binged it in 2 days!

Timestamp 53:00ish "Wow that was a crazy shot...you know what I'm talking about?...yeah man" yep yep yep. good shit lololol

Cindy S.

I cheered when Bryce and Zuff agreed that Edwina’s comments were justified. We as an audience know that Kate always put Edwina’s happiness over her own and truly never meant to hurt Edwina by falling for Anthony. BUT Edwina doesn’t know that. She has every right to be fuming. And for anyone who disagrees, just imagine yourself at the altar while your groom (or bride) is staring behind you at your maid of honor (or best man). I highly doubt many would be able to forgive and forget so quickly and easily. It doesn’t make one an evil person, it makes them human.

S.W.

I would understand if Kate had a tendency of being a toxic sister but she literally taught and took care of Edwina her whole life, when their Mama was troubled w/ grief Kate stood by her sister’s side & was willing to give up Anthony for her. The only problem was that she wasn’t honest & let Edwina know that Anthony did not love her. But considering Edwina is the youngest, she probably was never told “no” as a child. This was her first rejection ever so this to me was a tantrum, not her true feelings.

Maria Stoycheva

I agree with what you are saying. I am watching it for the 3rd (or is it 4th? :D) time and I am starting to appreciate Edwina's change in demeanour more. still, I like calling her "Eviwina" - it's funny and it clearly distinguishes Edwina post-wedding from the sweet compliant girl we knew in ep.1.

Maria Stoycheva

me too! Rob has been having all the insights this episode without even realising it :D

Maria Stoycheva

right? I love seeing that. you might want to see Blind Wave's reaction to it too - 4 guys who take their time to understand the context of the period and to talk through anything that doesn't make sense to them. they are slightly less emotional than our guys here but they also have great discussions. I recommend checking them out. any other reactions you'd recommend?

Question for y'all: did Kate and Anthony have actual intercourse in this sex scene? or was it just oral? here is my theory: Anthony keeps saying that he is a gentleman. by the third time it is absolutely hilarious, especially considering that the first time we ever saw him, he was having sex against a tree :D but I think he truly believes it and he considers Kate a lady. as a result, he treats her like one. A lady he is NOT married to. if you pay close attention, you will notice that he never takes his trousers off. I think that was intentional. I think it was made to show that they never had intercourse that night. yes, he wanted to give her pleasure and he clearly did that, but he also wanted to protect her (not risk getting her pregnant). what do you think?

Ferdinand Buot

Once you all are done with bridgerton, AMAZING SHOW AND FANTASTIC REACTIONS! I would suggest perhaps watching the Crown Netflix??? Its a show about Queen Elizabeth II and has a lot of drama and politics which I think this group would really enjoy! Keep doing your amazing reactions love every bit :)

S.W.

It was oral, I think Anthony was at his breaking point & just wanted to touch & make her feel feel good but he wouldn’t take her V-card or even take off his pants to make her feel like she had to reciprocate. A true “gentleman” even though he broke a few rules 💀💀💀

Georgina Cussans

Interesting take - it's possible but to me it looks like his trousers are off when he wakes up under the rug/blanket in the morning and next episode he says something that implies they did have intercourse

Maria Stoycheva

Georgina, there are posters/photos from the morning after where you can see the trousers underneath the blanket. But maybe the concept changed and he initially was meant to have done it.

Cindy S.

The first cut is the deepest. I believe those were her true feelings. And they were valid. Referring to them as a tantrum is yet another way to easily dismiss Edwina. Kate wasn’t honest about her own feelings and unfortunately once trust is broken it’s difficult to repair it.

Cindy S.

Maria, it’s great when people can begin to see things from a new perspective. I feel for Edwina. The moment the rose-colored glasses come off, in a way it’s like a loss of innocence. And I also think it’s refreshing to see this shift in her demeanor for no woman is perfect, kind, and charming all the time.

sandrinegeller

Someone asked one of the showrunners/producers during an interview if they were supposed to have had full sex and they said yes. They just chose not to show it because it felt unnecessary or something to them

Shanice British

Yes based on the answer someone who worked on the show gave when asked about it I just wish we got the whole thing because I thought it was just oral also until that question was answered 😂

Maria Stoycheva

to be perfectly honest, this is a bit disappointing to me. I kinda liked the whole "I am a gentleman" thing and thought that just oral would have been the gentlemanly thing to do... and much safer for Kate, considering that she didn't really expect a proposal afterwards. and yes, they should have showed the whole scene - I am sure we would have all enjoyed it a lot ;)

emily ღ

right?? i'm going to genuinely miss this when they finish the season. crossing my fingers season 3 comes out soon (i heard it was delayed a bit...) but i love how invested they get. when baby auggie first appeared and they were all "aww-ing" over him and just the genuine excitement and emotion they feel to this show and the characters, it just makes it that more enjoyable to watch and "share" with them

emily ღ

to me the little jabs are what makes it hard to be sympathetic. like i get her lashing out in the wedding episode and saying hateful things. i don't condone it, but i can understand it. but time is passing and every single chance she speaks to kate, it's with the utmost contempt. like edwina, just don't bother with her. if you want to be angry, be angry. she does have a right to be angry, i really truly believe. but being hurtful to someone who is clearly already hurting and feeling very low as it is just rubs me the wrong way. like the main one that struck me was after everyone was dancing and having fun and there was this happiness and lightheartedness she tells kate "at least i'll never be as cruel as you" or something like that. and it's like why? what was the point of that? you've already said hurtful things. you've already hurt her. she doesn't have to forgive and forget. turning away and cold stares would be justified. but it's the little remarks and jabs that just make it hard for me to really connect with her character and sympathize with her after a point.

emily ღ

ooh that'd ben an interesting one. it definitely makes me curious what they'll replace bridgerton with until season 3. i love this little bridgerton community we have here. y'all are such a highlight of my week and i'm going to genuinely miss this. hopefully whatever replaces it is something we can also all enjoy together as this little bridgerton community <3

Terri

Same! I laughed and though...."just wait for it..."

Terri

Yeah, I don't think we will get season 3 until July-ish. That's based on when it seems like they will wrap filming, which should be late Feb/early March. They are doing reshoots right now I believe. Then based on how long it took them to go through post-production after season 1 and 2 wrapped (about 4 months), we should see it in July. However, there is the factor of Queen Charlotte that may push it back a bit further if they want more of a gap between the shows since QC will release first.

Logan.

Im SO glad someone else caught that. As soon as he said it I smiled like the Grinch 😂😂😂

Terri

Yeah, honestly I don't get people not empathizing with Edwina. Just picture that your sister/brother had been carrying on with your finance without telling you and then you found out on the alter. That's a HUGE betrayal. Edwina is taking that remarkably well imo. Just giving some cutting comments. I honestly wouldn't be able to look at my sibling for awhile. That's a WAY bigger betrayal from Kate than from Anthony. Also, this JUST happened. So Edwina deserves time to process it. I mean, she was raised with the idea that she would get married. They came to England just to find Edwina a match. So, for her legitimate purpose in life to literally fall apart at the last second and it be due to the person you trusted the most to guide you? Yeah...that's pretty bad. That was one issue I had with them changing the story from the books. It makes Kate the villain really. The books didn't. So it's actually a bit difficult for me to really root for Kate and Anthony even at this point in the season.

Terri

They did have intercourse. However, I wish they had done exactly what you said. For one thing, having intercourse before marriage in this time period would have REALLY put shame on Kate. It's not so bad when they do it with some of the other couples if they are engaged, but Kate and Anthony at this point, had no intention of getting engaged. Anthony, being the man in this time period, would have never done this to a lady if he was honorable. I mean...he nearly killed Simon just for kissing Daphne when he had no intention of marrying her. Again, it's another change from the books that I dislike. It makes Anthony and Kate both seem worse than they are.

Terri

Yes!! I've loved reading everyone's opinions and the discussion/community here too. I hope this show is replaced with something that'll be equally as good for these sorts of discussions :). Another good show that's in this vein, and probably the most celebrated period drama of all time, is North and South (2005). It's only four episodes and a miniseries, but it's fantastic. Lost in Austen is another good miniseries too. I think both would be good replacements. I like the Crown, but it's definitely more dry than Bridgerton imo. Still a decent show though and I enjoy seeing the different time period.

Maria Stoycheva

Yes, Terri, precisely my point! Kate probably doesn't know in detail how sex works but Anthony does. It is his responsibility to protect her, seeing as they are not even close to being engaged. He wants to show her "all the ways a lady can be seduced". I expected that they will start slow and ramp up after the wedding, like in most romance novels.

Maria Stoycheva

Btw, I only read half the book but didn't Anthony practically force himself on Kate in the library/office? He kissed her without her consent and it got pretty heated. I found that to be very rake-ish behaviour.

I’m new here. I am really enjoying the reactions and everyone’s comments about the show. I would love to see the guys reactions to the tv series Outlander.

seeing their reaction to Outlander would be so much fun! that is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Jen

I feel like s2 of Bridgerton just hits different its so sooo good I love Anthony and Kate’s storyline and the flashbacks. I hope y’all do white lotus or normal people in the future! Also Derry Girls with the actress who plays Penelope is amazing and such a fun watch!

Well according to the books, it is perfectly acceptable for a gentleman to sleep with as many women as they like for ‘experience’ as long as they are lower class (and hopefully don’t make a baby) but as gentlemen, it is their duty to protect the innocence and respectability of a Lady. That’s why he was sleeping with Sienna in season 1 and said the line “Yes well every woman isn’t a Lady” which annoyed her. I think he keeps repeating this to Kate because he has to keep reminding himself he has to do the honorable thing which is to respect Kate’s virtue and keep his promise to Edwina even though he so desperately wants to do the exact opposite every time he is with Kate. I think they did have full on sex (as these are always the crucial parts in the books and it happens many times where the gentlemen forget their honor in the heat of the moment 😆) I think this was that. Kate and Anthony just couldn’t resist any longer. Just like Simon and Daphne in the garden. But I think that is why they both had so much remorse the morning after. And usually the gentlemanly thing to do afterwards would be to marry the girl. Which is why Anthony ran to Kates house with the ring.

I think those were Edwinas true feeling and she was really hurting but she was more upset about feeling betrayed by her sister than about losing Anthony. I don’t think she was really truly in love with him. Just giddy hopeful and excited. When ppl say tantrum I think it’s because Edwina was choosing to stay in a bitter place and purposefully being Petty which is understandable. I do think she has every right to choose to do that because she was hurting. What I didn’t like was that she chose to believe Kate was always out have Anthony for herself and that they were purposefully going behind her back when she knows deep down Kate has always put herself last and has always done everything for her and their mom. I think Edwina was a little too used to that and was upset when Kate actually had desires of her own. Especially when she said something like “I fooled myself into believing your intentions were good and your only desire was for me to be happy. “ I don’t think that made Edwina evil though just immature and a little self centered but that is how she was raised up to that point by Kate. In the end I think that seeing Kate in danger of dying made her mature and realize she was being petty and it wasn’t worth it and that she loved her sister for all she had done for her. And maybe it wasn’t about her and Kate and Anthony just really truly fell in love without meaning too.
