Lestat did not have anything to do with Paul. To become a vampire you don't necessarily have to consent, that is just something Lestat was doing with Louis. A vampire has to drain you and then they replace your blood with theirs. And not all vampires are as powerful as Lestat. He has an interesting past.

I felt like Lestat kill the brother? Notice the brother said he spoke to him and told him he was here to take souls. Why tell him that and not turn him or kill him? Was he banking on the fact that due to the man being mentally ill, no one would believe him? It felt like his angle was to take everything from Louis to the point Louis chose him cause first the brother then Lily.
