Late merry christmas to you all! And early happy new year while I'm at it! :D


Slightly early update this time. Like most people I've been pretty busy with the festivities.

I still got some nice work done, even though I deviated a little from what I'd planned.

The screenshot up there shows the new pre battle menu! Like before, you can choose which character you want to fight with, but there are a few new things:

- Every time you access this screen, the background is tinted with a random color.

- Both the character and the opponent's name and level are displayed.

- You can leave the menu by clicking on the arrow in the bottom left or by clicking the mouse wheel.

- The thingie below "VS" shows wich effects will be active during this fight. There will be a bunch of possible effects, but I'll explain more another time.

- The "?" at the bottom right allows you to see more info on your opponent, if you've unlocked them.

I'm very happy with how it looks! I folowed up on that by making all of my mode to mode transitions (exploration > pre battle, pre battle > battle, result screen > exploration and so on).

However, this is when I realized that the way fights showed up during exploration mode still looked really bad (the big white and red balls), So I spent time on making them look better. Since I was at it, I also did it for the HE fights (see update 40), and ended up adding a victory and a defeat screen/animation for HE fights as well. Finally, I fixed a bunch of stuff, like the spawn animation for Heart eaters, dropped loot not appearing correctly, speeding up the fight intro and a few other things that I can't remember.

Now that everything transition related has been taken care of, I'll be able to create the menus without anything standing in my way! Which means I'll have some cool stuff to show off next time.
