Amara Ling and Yasmine Sadar had been the best of friends since college. Amara, normally full of spirit but was currently  wheelchair-bound due to a broken leg. Yasmine, true to her character, had been lending Amara a hand while she had been recovering.
One afternoon, they rolled down the streets of their city, the high-rise buildings towering over them like silent, concrete sentinels. They had errands to run: groceries to buy, mail to post, and an appointment Amara had to keep with her doctor.
Amara, searching through her handbag for something, pulled out a small pill bottle labeled Femmax Yellow. "I've been thinking," she began hesitantly, "of giving this a try. Do you think it might speed up my healing?"
Just then a construction worker accidentally knocked over a barrel of oil. It cascaded down onto the road just as a van was passing, skidded across the slick surface, barrelling straight toward Yasmine.
As horror widened Amara's eyes, she instinctively swallowed the Femmax pill. The adrenal rush of fear for her friend collided with the drug in her system, causing an almost instantaneous transformation. Her body grew, muscles bulking up, stature increasing until she towered over everyone at a staggering nine feet. Her broken leg reformed itself, the cast shattering under the force of her newfound strength.
With a roar, she leaped towards the incoming danger. Amara scooped up Yasmine just as the van crashed into her. The impact rocked her, but she remained unyielding, a protective shield for her friend. Her newly transformed body absorbed the hit, the van crumpling against her as if she were made of steel.
A shocked silence fell over the onlookers as the van driver stumbled out, wincing in pain and bewilderment. His gaze traveled up Amara's towering form, eyes wide with disbelief at the superhuman woman standing amid the wreckage. The bustling city street had become a stage for Amara's transformation, her powerful form the embodiment of fear, love, and friendship combined.
