Friday studies // step by step 🌿 (Patreon)

Helloooo dear patrons! Happy Friday 🌸🌸🌸

Today I had a big deadline for the Marvel comic I'm working on which means that I was able to took the rest of the day off and draw a bit for me :) I painted a couple of things on my sketchbook and I wanted to share them with you ! 

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do but I needed to wind down a bit and do something relaxing and I was in watercolors mood for some reason. I decided to do a little study of one painting I saw the last time I traveled to LA, the portrait of Magdaleine Pinceloup de la Grange by Jean-Baptiste Perronneau, mostly because there's a cute cat in it ! Here's the painting:

As always, I sketched it with the Prismacolor Col-erase scarlet red (my favorite pencil) and inked it with a 0.1 UniPin and the Kuretake Tombow Fudenosuke soft. I always forgot to take a picture before starting inking 🤦‍♀️ 

Then I added some watercolor layers, very very light at the beginning. I used mostly oranges, yellows and a light blue to create all the colors. Sorry for the ugly lighting, by the way, it was dark again :c

Once it's dry I paint a second layer to create some depth 

I couldn't help but use Copic Markers to add some interesting variations! Notice how her cheeks are more pink now and the purple tones in her dress, it's so subtle but it adds SO much, I love mixing these mediums.

Last details: white gouache for highlights !

I had so much fun with this one and I didn't struggle a lot along the way, it was one of those "nice drawing experiences" phew! 

Here's another painting I did based in Venus Rising from the Sea by Tiziano Vecellio, though this is not a real study but more of an inspiration for the pose/body

I didn't take pictures of the last one but I did film it a bit to put together a little process video. I'm really happy with both results 😭

oh and art theft update: I'm working on it, I already talked with someone from steemit so the report is done but they are freaking slow in taking it down for some reason. I'm sad the person will still have access to my Patreon page though. I feel like this is Among Us in real life 😂
