Hi patrons!! How are you doing?

A couple of days ago I had to pleasure to receive some new markers to try out from Spectrum Noir! I was actually familiarized with the brand since I had a little skin tone set I had purchased a couple of years ago on a trip to the US. (the brand don't exist here in my country) It was nice to have a lot more colors to play around this time!

I also got some fineliners, which are pretty pretty nice.

The colors are super lovely, not too saturated and very varied. This set contains a lot of pinks, reds and purples, which is great for me because the Ohuhu markers I bought recently were full of greens and blues heh. Here's the swatch page I did:

Quality isn't top notch, to be honest, but I guess it's okay because they are pretty affordable compared to Copics! The main reason I say this is because the ink flow is bit inconsistent, some of the markers seemed a bit dry, like a marker you've been using for months, not one that is brand new. Some other markers where fine, full of ink.

The blending is actually pretty nice, since some of them have less ink flow, I discovered you can actually do very interesting mixings, because it will be very subtle. I liked that. Here're a couple of step by step pictures painting something on my sketchbook (sorry I couldn't capture everything)

Sketch:

The lineart, done with the Spectrum Noir's fineliners. I used a bit the Tombow Fudenosuke as well:

First marker layer. I used the PV2 marker for the shadows:

More shadows and some details with Posca markers (at this point I was just ignoring the cat lol):

Added a tattoo and I tried to fix the cat (with Posca) πŸ˜‚

Final result!

Sorry for the weird light, it was pretty dark. I liked the result! Although I probably gonna keep fixing the cat a bit more lolol.

For someone trying out alcohol markers for the first time, these may be a bit of a struggle because of how they perform. But as a backup markers to have and mix with Ohuhu or Copics, I think these are actually great, I'm suuuper excited to continue to use them. You know I just love alcohol markers so freaking much, so I'm freaking grateful for these πŸ™ˆ

I'll go back to work now. I'm doing a variant cover for the Marvel comic I'm working on, right now I'm painting an Iron man, wish me luck!

I hope you all are staying well and safe. As always, thanks so much for being here πŸ’•

Love ya!
