As it says on my Patreon page, I’ve been writing stories since 2005. A small bit of backstory as to how we got here.

In 2004 is when I started my account under the name ‘JacktheDemon’...yes I was a chunibyo edgelord type in high school for a bit. At that time, I had done some pseudo-self insert stories with FMA and Teen Titans with the titular ‘Jack the Demon’ that wasn’t supposed to be my perceived notion of being a badass.

Then New Years Eve 2004 came: when I discovered this whole community! I was beside myself with joy. I always thought it was just me, never once thinking that I’d discover those with a shared taste for plus-sized ladies and lads. Mostly the former at first but over time, I enjoyed the latter. I lurked for a bit, never really doing anything as I had no art skills. Most I could do was write.

In 2005, FMSU held a contest to make a sequence with their OC at the time. Writers could enter with the provision of it being five chapters. Something told me to give it a shot. I did and held my breath…and won second place! I couldn’t believe that me with little-to-no expansion writing experience could do well enough to earn that high of a ranking (I have the prize FMSU drew for me. I’ll share it later if I remember)

So for the next 8~ years, I began to write more with varying degrees of success and frequency. I did take on a few commissions but never felt confident doing so full time. Around 2012 or so is when I threw away the ‘JacktheDemon’ name in favor of “SirWales” , something that had more dignity and simplicity…and less cringe.

I’m not going into the details of why I nuked my account in 2014 and started anew. 2013 was already a shit year, probably one of the worst ones of my life to be honest. And 2014, I just wanted a fresh start. I took up the name ‘Commander Crunchcake’ which is what I wrote under for about a year before switching back to ‘Sir-Wales’ but I’ll go over more of that later.

So why am I doing this? It’s fun to reflect back on stories I’ve done, maybe tell you why/how I put them together the way I did, and rank my own work over the past almost 20 years. There is a small downside: there’s a good chunk of stories that were lost when the first SirWales page was deactivated. I saved a handful of them, most of the stuff from 2010-2013 or so. Only one I put on my second page’s iteration, which I’ll go over more in a moment. I think we all can safely say anything prior to 2010 was likely crap. There were a few 2014 stories I deleted also in a fit of depression/rage so those won't be countered here either.

These are ranked in (mostly) chronological order. I’ll give my thoughts on each one, discuss my rationale behind the story, and how I like it in a modern Wales sense.

  • Ray=Out Revenge (2007): There wasn't much Eureka Seven stuff out on the internet as the show ended so I decided to make something with one of the leading ladies, Talho. Which, fun aside, anything in this community that you see that's Eureka Seven related there's a 99% chance it had my hand in it. I don't necessarily hate how this came out but there's some parts I'd definitely change for this day. Plot is a little too mid-00s WG writing but okay enough for a first major project.
  • Cultural Exchange (2010): The blue-people Avatar had come out the year prior and G-nibbles had gotten me into the mindset that fattening the svelte feline species had an allure. And you know what? He was right. Its funny how traits/themes/tones here came to be things I especially love doing in a modern sense. There were more scat elements in the original version but I did scale those back. A bit crustier writing on this, but still pleased with the results!
  • A Berry Situation (2011): I felt inspired to make a quick mutual blueberry story with Naruto after blimpy4000 had started up commissions and did a lovely blueberry ninja for me. I recall making this that summer while playing L.A. Noire on a whim (the story that is, not playing Noire). Again, interesting how certain things I write today can be seen here. Like with Ray=Out, the ending I feel now could be better. Not the best, but not the worst.
  • The Purple Plum (2012): This was meant to be a trade story for someone. I won't name names but the dude turned in shitty stories to me in exchange for this. A shame since this one had potential to be great. I like the concept of this prison in the Avatar Airbender-verse but looking back on it, the huge blocks of text felt pointless. Back when I thought I had to have every paragraph be super big. Could be better.
  • Fatbender (2012): Korra had just started airing (no pun intended) and the idea came about of 'if Amon took her bending, what purpose would she have'. This is one of those stories I did in a single sitting rather than a few days work. As far as impromptu stories go, I think it was pretty alright. Ending was decent enough too though with some overkill here and there.
  • Ashberry (2012): A gift story for a friend where we got to mess with a big bloated Ash Ketchum at the mercy of Misty and a hoard of Eevees (friend's favorite Pokemon). I really enjoyed all the tomfoolery and toying at Ash's expense. A story where I get to play around like this is where I feel I can shine. Only downside is that it does have some older writing rust/mess to it that could have been done better.
  • Curse of Cellulite (2012): If I recall correctly, I wrote this up as a quick thing before seeing The Amazing Spiderman. I'd been wanting to do more with Chel(dorado) for the longest time and this quickie was an excuse to do so. Although the rush can be seen in some places when it comes to this story. It's serviceable.
  • Lollipop Cellulite (2012): I wrote this in 2012 but posted it in 2015. For the sake of this list, I'll keep it in this set. This could have been better in hindsight. It was a time I felt I needed to pad my stories to fit a criteria. I compared myself a lot to other writers I felt were better than me and that it needed to be like theirs. Was alright but definitely not a top tier story from me.
  • All About the Bass (2012): This had been a series written at the end of 2012 for a friend. I think it started pretty well but the last part was a bit eh. I had only just gotten to see K-On a few months prior to writing this. So maybe letting the series sink in a bit more/better would have resulted it having a nicer/better polish.
  • Massive Hill 3 (2013): This was one of my first official commissions. And, as for reasons I explain in the last 2013 story, this had some trouble of being a bit stilted in places. I was trying to manage my crappy, soul-crushing job while taking on a second one while also writing this. I think it came out okay but definitely needed some better formatting than what I put together almost ten years ago.
  • Something Slobby This Way Comes (2013): Harley Quinn toying with the Teen Titan ladies. What could go wrong? Well, this is an example of 'too many cooks'. Or, in this case, ideas. I tried to cram more in here than I really ought to have. Not that it's bad, per se. But definitely should have known when enough was enough.
  • It's a Small World (2013): Last thing in my shitty year and before I quit the worst job I ever had. The quality reflects this as well since this goes in the same category of "trying too hard to be like X & Y". Which, to be more specific, are zobstories and sicstories. Two writers I respect greatly and thought were far better than me. So I tried to write a story like them without keeping it my own thing.
  • As Seen on TV (2014): This was the first story posted to that new 'Crunchcake' account. This came as inspiration from a Dofus episode around that time where characters could order junk on the TV in real-time. Funny how spur of the moment stories tend to be good in my eyes. I guess the inspiration striking helps as well. Definitely one of the better ones. Also marked a new era of my life as soon after I posted this, I got a new job that I still love to this day.
  • Tons of Treats I (2014): Another 'spurred moment' story with Medusa from Soul Eater enjoying Halloween. I forget if this came about from someone or if I just wanted an excuse for Medusa to be fat and somewhat sweet with others. It started out well enough but, as we'll see when I get to the 2015 bits, the start didn't match the end of this series.
  • Tons of Treats II (2014): This was my last story for 2014 as I was struggling to settle into a new job. This had some direction from the last one as it was an excuse to mess with my favorite Soul Eater brats. WhiteJacketedFool even did a cute Maka picture to go with it some. I can't say entirely that it was bad but it could have gotten better attention from me as my new job had really been kicking my ass, about two months into it to be precise.

So, giving this all a ranking in an LS Mark style thing, it's worth noting things below 11 aren't 'trash' but more 'I could have done better'. I don't hate anything like that just would go back and correct if I had the time. 6-10 are middle of the road and top five are just that. For this batch, we have:

1.Cultural Exchange
2.As Seen on TV
3.Tons of Treats I
4.Ashberry
5.A Berry Situation
6.All About the Bass
7.Fatbender
8.Massive Hill 3
9.Curse of Cellulite
10. Tons of Treats II
11.Purple Plum
12.Something Slobby This Way Comes
13.Ray=Out Revenge
14.Lollipop Cellulite
15. It's a Small World

Unsure when the 2015 list will come out. But let me know if you want to see more of this or if there's a story on this list you have a different opinion about.
