Hey, VoidBounders!

You might remember from an earlier post I mentioned how we would diversify the combat, and provided you with some concept art of what that might look like. Well, I present to you the finished version of the mine, turret, and shield! These are objects that Caly will be able to craft and utilize in combat. Now lemme explain how these crafty, little things will work.

For starters, the mine is something you can place on a tile, and will damage anything once it moves to that specific tile, so be careful not to get caught up in its fiery blast.

Next up is the turret, an automatic gun that can either attack by itself, or you can decide what they will attack. But nothing is free in the world of VoidBound, as we're planning to include a feature where these turrets will require your hard earned ammunition, but this feature won't be implemented for a while yet. However, if these turrets should survive the battle, they'll be placed back into your inventory.

And finally, the shield, which can be placed in front of you to block incoming damage. It can only take so much damage until it's destroyed. As with the turret, it can be placed back into your inventory if it should survive the battle.

These nifty items will greatly diversify the combat, but as with everything, they require resources to craft. These same resources can be used for other things, such as weapon modifications or to craft other things, so it's always up to you whether crafting it is worth it or not.

I have a couple of questions. Mainly regarding the mine and shield. If the mine isn't detonated, will that return to your inventory like the shield and turret? Next when the shield takes damage but also survives that battle will the shield "retain" that damage when it's next deployed or will it be reset to full HP? Thank you for posting regular updates on this project.

If the mine doesn't detonate, it will be returned to your inventory. For the shield, if it doesn't get destroyed in the battle, it will be returned to your inventory with full HP.

Is there a chance we'll be able to see an 'auxiliary' equipment slot where we can place turret/shield/item/etc. to have them automatically be deployed at the beginning of combat? Also anyone else feels like playing Plants vs Zombies all of a sudden? :^)
