Re-reading these early pages of mine still amuses me. Seems the fourth richest man in the galaxy has open garbage piles next to his house. And somehow Raebnick made the sound and smoke of burning rubber as they peeled out - without any tires on the car.

   Maybe "burning rubber" became so traditional that cars now have special smoke vents and speakers to simulate the noise and smell?

I can see this. Some digital cameras on the market now have a mechanical shutter clicking sound, despite not having any moving parts beyond the button you press. For those models that make the (pre-recorded) sound, many don't even have a way to turn it off or mute it!

I remember that a Scandinavian Pizza chain (yeah, I know, When I think of pizza, Sweden, Denmark and Norway don't come to mind) had electric motorcycles for delivery. They wound up putting little sound boxes on them so pedestrians could hear them!
