The rest of the stories are about Joe Skugs' long, painful struggle back to a "normal" life. He creates the Avenger persona (a masked vigilante) to disconnect his civilian identity from any illegal and/or violent acts he must perform to achieve his goal.

   And he gets there, he more or less makes it to the good life before his harrowing fall from grace.

   But hey, he's got the hide of a rhino and the strength of a gorilla. Even in federal prison, nobody's going to give him much trouble.
