Quis custodiet ipsos custodes - a dilemma that followed men and women throughout our history, as they found themselves wielding powers too great for them to bear.

Fear has turned into pain for the ones brave enough to throw their last breath at the enemy. It twists and crushes their stomachs as they stare, terrified. They were humanity's last chance - a fragile string between the world as we knew it and tyranny. Failing would mean the end. However, they didn't feel like heroes. Deep down, they knew they were just sent to gain time - their lives sacrificed for the cowards to live on.

The end was near. For when no one can guard the guardians, all suffer.

This started as a completely random experiment with lighting and finally turned into a full render. It's a bit different from what I usually do but it's nice to try new things! I hope it conveys power and helplessness just as well as my usual work :)
