As the first lights of the morning start piercing inside June's apartment, silence and stillness reign. The 24 years old finishes her night, turning around in her bed one last time before the clock rings.

She had come home late last evening. Like most week days, she was finishing a paper for her doctorate at the campus' library, when she realized the sunlight outside was long gone. She stood up and prepared to leave, already planning to go by the deli around the block to take away some food for the night. But as June closed her bag, she felt the inexplicable sensation that someone was watching her.

Never wrong, she turned around to see someone else about to leave. "Elise", June remembered. The brunette was a Master student in History who, just like her, rarely left the library before nightfall. The two had talked in the past. In the elevator, mostly, in order to cut through the awkward silence that two strangers feel when trapped in a small space. They had shared names. Elise had giggled when June shared hers, asking if it came from the Roman mythology. If only she knew. However, June had feigned ignorance, claiming it was her parents' twisted way of celebrating her conception.

June put her bag on her shoulder and started walking towards the exit, Elise right behind her. She already knew she was in for another small talk session with the cute brunette. She didn't mind. June never minded talking to people. She always made sure they felt good around her.

"Another lonely night at the library, huh?" asked Elise, breaking the awkward silence before it was felt.

"Glad I'm not the only one who seems crazy enough to stay in this place so late." replied June with a warm and comforting smile.

And there it was. The dreaded long silence as they waited for the lift to arrive. June braced, looking away to avoid making Elise uncomfortable. But as she was about to start mentioning the weather to break the growing unease, she was surprised to hear Elise talk first.

"I could use a drink tonight. Care to join me? I know that place on Ambroise, it's pretty chill." Elise said, quieter and quieter, as shyness progressively took over her.

June looked at the blushing woman. She knew that feeling, for she had seen it many times.

"I'd love to. Elise right? Still studying history?" June replied, as both walked in the elevator, casually letting each other know more about themselves and ready for a relaxing night on Ambroise St.

Silence and stillness reigned inside June's apartment, as the first lights of the morning start piercing inside. Though, if you were to look closer, you'd realize appearances may deceive you...

And so it begins! As mentioned earlier, I'll start publishing my work differently - one render at a time. This first one lays the context for A Good Morning, my new story featuring June. I hope you'll enjoy! :)
