Immortal Technique was one of my favorite rappers during this period. Interesting guy - he was born in Lima Peru and has Peruvian/African/Spanish ancestry but grew up in Harlem. He served time in prison as a young man, spent a lot of time reading and studying political science during/after prison. He is a self-described revolutionary and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to race, class, ethnicity and geo politics. He’s got some BANGERS - Obnoxious, Leaving tha Past, and Peruvian Cocaine all have his signature story telling format. Those would make some amazing reactions since it would be fresh for you both.
