For now, since Lin is waking up, I end my meditation and have breakfast with her. After we are done eating, Lin is going to the library and I will join her later. First, I go and open up the crates of weapons, then I disenchant and re-enchant all of them.

Once the weapons all have the new enchantments I put them back into the crates. Then I head down to the library and join Lin, but to my surprise she isn't skimming books. In fact, it looks like she is working on a spell, but before I can see what it is she puts it away.

"What's that? Are you working on a spell?"

Lin says "Yes, but I can't show you. I promised I wouldn't."

"Promised? Who?"

Lin says "The goddesses. It is the summoning spell."

"Oh, right. Why are you suddenly working on it now?"

Lin says "Because I want to summon more music from your world."

"Ah. Why am I not surprised?"

Lin says "Because you teased me with a small amount of music? Now, this is my only way to get more!"

"Fine, just don't forget to create the reverse spell as well."

Lin says "I know, I haven't forgotten."

"Okay. I will go work on my spell over at that table. That way you can work on the summoning spell."

Lin says "Alright. I will let you know when I get hungry."

I move to the next table over and take out the papers that have my spell on them. Before I start work, I read back over what I have so far to make sure I haven't missed anything. Now that I am taking a fresh look at it I don't find any problems, but I find a few things that I can improve.

Once I have updated the spell and still don't see any problems, only then do I start working. I am hoping that, with some luck, I might be able to finish the spell today or tomorrow. Of course, it will depend on whether or not I get stuck or interrupted.

At first, I make good progress, but after a while my progress slows down. The more complete the spell becomes, the harder it is to add more without creating errors. When I find myself completely stuck I decide to take a break and take out my communication amulet.

"Stillwater, how are things going?"

Stillwater says "Ah, Ash, I was just thinking of contacting you."

"Oh? What's going on?"

Stillwater says "Nothing. I just wanted to get updated orders."

"Okay. How far from the city are you?"

Stillwater says "We should arrive late tomorrow or early the next day. Are we continuing all the way to the city? Or should we stop before then?"

"Come to the city, but drop anchor outside the port. None of the piers are big enough for the ship. Slow down so that you arrive the day after tomorrow, I will be able to make preparations by then."

Stillwater says "Understood. Does that mean that our people are going to be allowed to enter the city?"

"Yes. They will need to stay in groups, but they will be able to look around and buy a few things at least."

Stillwater says "That could be a problem. We don't really have that much in the way of funds."

"Don't worry. I will make arrangements for that as well. Everyone who wants to come into the city will get the chance and have money to spend. Each group will be guided and protected by human adventurers. However, anyone with strong prejudices against humans should stay on the ship."

Stillwater says "Agreed. Also those that have not sufficiently recovered from their trauma will be restricted from leaving the ship."

"How about putting Sheraf in charge of buying things for those that have to stay on the ship? There is no reason to leave them out completely."

Stillwater says "That's a good idea and I am sure she would enjoy it."

"It will also give you and Silverstream some peace and quiet, right?"

Stillwater says "That has nothing to do with it!"

"How are things going on that front?"

Stillwater says "Silverstream and I will be getting married as soon as things quiet down. Sheraf and Silverleaf have already given their blessings."

"That's great! How about Brightfire?"

Stillwater says "Heh, if my daughter had her way then the wedding would have already happened."

"Feeling a little pressured there, Stillwater?"

Stillwater says "Yes. Anyway, anything I should know about the city?"

For the next few minutes I explain everything that I have learned about the city. Once we are done talking, I end the contact and go back to working on the spell. After taking a short break I am able to get past the part that I was stuck on before.

Even though the spell isn't done yet, I am not confident that it is going to work. Not only that, I am now much more confident in being able to make the castle into a world. It should only be a matter of time now until I am ready to re-enchant the castle.

The spell is now about ninety percent complete, although there are probably a few errors in it. However, I plan to finish the spell before I go back and try to fix them. The errors were caused by conflicts between the new parts of the spell and earlier parts.

Meaning that as I finish the spell it is likely that more errors will be created by finishing the spell. So, it is easier to wait and fix them all at once after I finish the spell than try and fix them now. While I am working I have a message sent to Almort letting him know I want to talk to him.

I keep working while I am waiting for him to show up, but my progress has slowed down. I am not stuck, but figuring out the last few parts of the spell is much harder. Still, I am confident that it won't take me too much longer to finish it.

Almort says "Ash, you wanted to see me?"

"Oh, yes. My ship will be arriving in the morning, the day after tomorrow."

Almort says "In that case I will post the quest notice tomorrow. I am really looking forward to seeing this ship of yours!"

"Don't worry, you and Zachariah will get a tour."

Almort says "Great! Are there any other preparations that I can help you with?"

"Nope. I will go talk to Zachariah after lunch and that is all that I have left to do. Everything else is already prepared."

Almort says "Alright. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with."

"Sure. Thanks."

After Almort leaves I return to working on the spell until Lin is ready to eat. We have lunch together and then I leave Lin to work on her spell and head to the merchant group. I am greeted as soon as I enter and led straight to Zachariah's office.

I don’t know if this has been addressed yet: why put the “world spell” on the castle instead of the ship? Or why not add the spell to both?

Devin Dineen

The point is to make the castle useable while it is inside the pouch of holding. The ship is too big to go into a pouch so there's no point.
