Bit of a weird post today, just a bit of rambling as well as updating everyone on progress and new stuff. There won't be a new map for another few days, as I’m working on a large modular tileset. I won't say what it is just yet, (I like surprising people!) but it's something I've wanted to do for a long time and is a little bit different compared to some of the stuff i've done so far. After I’m done with the tileset, next month i'll be back to finishing up the planar maps series and patreon maps.

I’ve also been thinking about the $100 goal I made for myself to write a narrative hook for a map every month. On the one hand I would really like to add to the maps in this way by adding more character and background to help people actually use my maps. However in doing so it does take time away from making the maps themselves. So I’m going to add a poll onto the end of this post just to see what people think I should do. Take a day off, to write background narrative stuff, or just keep making maps! :)

I enjoy adventure hooks and ideas and giving history/background to the maps when I'm looking for inspiration in an encounter or some quick filler to run, but mostly I'm here for the maps so when I design my own encounters I have a map in mind that I can use in case battle breaks out. Your maps are great and I would prefer more maps I know I'll use as opposed to maps with adventure hooks I may only use every once in a while. Now if you wanted to expand on your maps as a bonus for $100 that'd be cool. One thing I rarely see but would love to see more of is a map of a region or area and then battle maps/town maps/etc. of things from that area.

I voted for both. Sorry (not sorry) :P Also, I agree with bewby, related maps are a cool idea

I think you could run a contest - pick a map you like, throw it to Patrons to write a hook for that map, and then the best one (by poll, or your opinion) gets something at the end of the month :) That way, we get more maps, more narrative stuff, and the amount of time you spend is closer to the same.

This is a great idea. Community source stories for your maps!
