A lot of cables coiled or huddled up together can cause interference and making noises

I wonder are those mics coming with usb connection? Looks like rode offer firmware updates for the ntg2. Could try updating that. I always thought the buzzing could be related to static electricity/poor ground. Did you switch the mics around? Could also be bad soldering connection on the recorder? Perhaps Rode can give support?

Love all your chokers Sarah and I’m not tech savvy sorry boo. It is seems that’s how tech is nowadays old one works and the new one doesn’t I guess they just don’t make ‘‘em like they use too boo lol and this Sheehan site I need to check out because I’m always thinking of ed Sheeran lol

No USB unfortunately. I thought the same about the connection on the recorder but it doesn't make sense that when I change the mic it made a difference. Could be interference from something, think I'll have to see how it goes!

haha, you’re going nuuuts in this, esp. towards end! But nice necklaces! 😂 Yes, you should find the serial number. 😆 Also, not sure if this is the reason for your mic issues, but maybe it’s the cable or maybe your phone was too close (causing interference). Not sure tho!
