I solved the problem quite a while ago by designating a drawer as 'the drawer' into which all sorts of geeky stuff dwell in suspension. Use Zip lock bags to keep related things together, then throw the bag into The Drawer. I know the day will come when The Drawer will reach capacity, at which time I will regret all the money spent on geeky stuff.
