So, I've been thinking...

I draw a lot of big guys (no suprise here) but I also draw them slightly bigger each time. It's  a slow gradual process, but everyone can see what has happened to my style. I've been mostly working on commissions, and often a new customer wants to be slightly bigger than the one before. That's absolutely fine with me, but the scale in my head got shifted. What used to be a bodybuilder, now is a "slim athlete", what used to be "overly muscular" (or even hyper) now is just "bodybuilder".

I decided to compare natural proportions with what i do. You might notice how great  the difference  between real life and my artworks is. The double bicep flex was based of one of the most muscular man in the world - Kai Greene. This guy's bicep has a bicep, yet compared to the sizes I do lately, he seems small.

THAT scares me as an artist. I want to remain elastic, to be able to draw both slim twinks,  massive muscle monsters and all that stays between them.

It's also an interesting comparison between traced photo (the one with guy shaving) and a drawing. Sometimes you can't just trust real life proportions. If you do a cartoonish face, don't try to idly mix it with mindlessly traced, realistic body.

Hope you find it as interesting as I did.

Im happy that patreon gives me opportunity not only to draw own stuff, but also to reflect on myself as an artist.

Thank you :*
