Becoming Monsters 1: Ch03 Release! (Patreon)

It is a story chapter, but an important one. When I was writing it, I originally got scared because it was a whole chapter without any sex happening. It is where Honoka decides to do something about her problems, essentially changing everything about who she is and what she wants to do. There are also a number of establishing expo scenes crammed in here, such as Honoka's distaste for profanity and that there are most complex rules for Races than was originally explained, specifically that the US and other countries needed to make concessions to the needs of their new peoples as well as establishing the importance of the milk trade.

Which, really, I do kinda like what I did with milk. It establishes the importance of Banda later, it gives a unique flavor to the setting, but mostly it gets rid of coffee. I HATE coffee. I have never tasted a single drop because the very smell of it makes me vomit. Not joking, I vomitted when I walked into a café by accident once. I step into a room with enough steaming cups floating around and I taste bile in my mouth and I can't walk past certain aisles of the grocery store. So it was with a certain amount of perverse pleasure that I established in later chapters that caffeine is toxic to many Races and milk is like drinking distilled bliss.

There is also a little paragraph in here that I dropped as foreshadowing because I did plan on it in my head (loosely, at the time) to explore the dynamics of Honoka's grandfather, something that wouldn't play out until the end of Book 2. While at this point in the story I was still kinda fumbling around what I wanted to do, I was seeing how things could play out and how it all worked even here.

This will be the last chapter for a few weeks. This is because Becoming Monsters is still in KU until Feb 9th and there are rules I need to follow or else my book will be banned. I don't want to risk that, as while I'm generally abandoning Amazon, until I can really establish myself here a lot of income will be from people interested in me and being directed to buy the book. So expect the next BM chapter in the middle of February.
