We've grown a lot in the last month and I have a feeling that the OSMU announcement has something to do with that ...

Well, as you can see in earlier posts, I have been working on that idea for a while now and even made some progress. Some of you have even helped with the circuit design, so I think we'll see some output voltages this month :)

But 2 product videos have to be done first:

1. Nixie Clock for Elektor, all filmed today. Nixie clocks are boring, but I hope they'll finally send that big Tesla coil then ...

2. A few German-made open source thingies, that are really special. I don't say that lightly. https://www.tinkerforge.com are making something truly unique and I am very excited to play around with that stuff :)

I don't really understand what you're trying to do in the video, but does the solder sucker require some air to pull in the solder? Having the tip completely under the surface is probably what is preventing it from working? Or is this a joke that's completely over my head?

I have a Hakko desoldering gun. It would probably suck up about half of that solder then I'd have a big mess to clean it up if I didn't ruin it in the process. :)

the seal round the piston is junk. It's the only explanation for why the piston withdraws without pulling in through the nozzle - it must be getting something to fill the cylinder with from somewhere else - it is leaking in from round the top. My old mum has a phrase "Buy cheap, buy twice"... you'll be getting another sucker with a good name ;o)

Nono, I was just messing around, trying to fill that thing with solder, no hidden meaning :)

I bought a plastic one like that, and I wish I hadn't. I'd get better performance using a Krazy-straw and sucking solder out the old-fashioned way.
