Since I still didn't manage to get a newer source measure unit I wanted to try and DIY one soon. With modern components I think it isn't nearly as difficult as older Keithley gear makes it look. Also µA sensitivity is absolutely sufficient for me, but once I get that working, I could look into nA and maybe even pA?

I think a 3 channel model would be much more useful than just 3 times the usefulness of 1 channel, because it could be used as a curve tracer for 3 pin semiconductors, analyzer for 3 phase brushless motors and so much more. Just with a few extra lines of software.

With 1 channel it already is extremely useful. Precision power supply, component tester, automatic multi-chemistry battery charger and discharger, power waveform generator (would that be useful for something? :), you name it.

Would something like that be interesting? I like the idea a lot, so I'll keep it a little bit secret for now ...
